Place: The Rooftops

Time: Further into the night.

"After all this, we only have 2 of the pieces we need." I sighed.

"Yep" Tamara said. She got up and walked over to the scythe on the ground, reached down and picked it up.  She couldn't get over the fact of how light it was. The creature looked extraordinarily strong, so wielding something this light and sturdy was a devastating combination.

Tamara started twirling it around clumsily like a baton from her cheerleading activities.  The top was heavy but she soon compensated for it and took to spinning it in a mesmerizing fashion almost as if she were doing one of her routines with it.

I couldn't help but stare. It, she was beautiful and deadly, he body silhouetted in the dark of the night sky. When she finished, she looked at me, smiled and winked. I returned the smile with my own while blushing.

"This would be great for Jeremy" Tamara mentioned unexpectantly. "He needs a longer weapon, the ones he had when he went exploring were only dull and couldn't cut anything"

She paused for a second. "We need to hurry up and find him"

I got up, looked at her and made for the door heading back to the stairs, Tamara close behind me.

The stairs had changed. When I came up them, they were normal. Now the paint on them was peeling. The walls around us, the paint was peeling as well, and behind it was a rustic red color.

Rain water from outside was slowly flowing down the stairs, pit pattering on each step as it traveled. After retrieving my flashlight, I turned it on and started down, our shoes sloshing as we went.

We came to a door pretty quickly, one I didn't come from earlier, and I opened it. We were greeted by a very long, wide and dark hallway. My flashlight reflected off of some strips on the wall on either side. Red arrows pointing down toward the end of the hallway.

I also noticed the sound of nurses shuffling about.

"We're being directed again" Tamara said, he voice almost quivering.

What could she have gone through that made her shrink like this. I held her hand.

"We've been directed this entire time, but we are still alive, and together now." I tried to sound confident, but inside, I was exhausted.

I thought for a moment and looked back down the stairs. "What if we were to deviate from this path?" I asked her.

"Because of Scythe." She spat back immediately.

"How so?" I asked.

"I just feel that he either shows up when we need to be pushed somewhere faster, or when we get more pieces of the puzzles. I almost feel that he's a puppet himself" Tamara explained.

The pieces do fit, I thought to myself.

I looked down the long hallway again, the nurses had not been alerted to our presence yet. My brain was racing, thoughts swirling.

"Things don't make sense though. Why lead us sometimes, and why try to kill us others?" I asked.

"I don't know." She answered. "Let's just find Jeremy for now and see if we can go over this together"

"You're right, let's continue to play the game"

The nurses weren't an issue, they went down with several slashes of a twirling goddess and slashing demon, both Tamara and myself looking back on the devastation that we wreaked down the hallway. The nurses were still moving, their body parts crawling, twisting and spasming along the hallway of peeling paint.
