Place: The Tower
Time: Into the night
He had us, over a stupid mistake. A slip and fall and now we were on the ground covered in this slimy remains of the humans that once occupied this area. I was tangled in Tamara's leg, she tried to move but her hand slipped again on the slime. It was hard to find purchase of any kind.
Scythe stepped toward us, one boot after the other and when he reached about four feet away, he pointed at us with his massive weapon. He looked down at us, no emotion in his face, but his eyes showed something different than before. Before they were empty, like I was looking at a one way mirror, with the puppeteer on the other side. But now, his eyes had substance.
It didn't raise it's weapon, we didn't move. All we could do was star at it.
It's mouth opened and a deep guttural voice started to speak. "Not much time." It said. "Before master understands"
My eyes widened. The monster could speak.
Master, so there is a puppeteer.
"Fall from building, broke link" It slowly pushed out. "You not able kill me with things" It pointed to my sword, then to her gun.
"Please kill me." It asked, almost with agony in it's voice. "Use Lance"
"Light Tower, Find Lance." Then is slowly started spelling out letters. "I, S , E, You need this. I, S, E" it repeated.
Then it turned and walked toward the side wall near the windows looking outside. A slow but powerful punch broke through the glass and it jumped. We heard a crashing sound next and car alarm following that.
I still couldn't talk, fear and shock still gripped me. Tamara was first to move though, slowly getting up and finding balance for her feet. Grabbing onto a nearby desk, she reached her handout and offered me help. Graciously, I took it.
"Thank you" I tried to smile at her. "What was that?" I asked, still in shock.
"I think we both felt there was someone behind this pulling the strings. It sounds like Scythe all but confirmed it." She surmised.
"And a lance. Where do we even start looking for a lance?"
Tamara walked over to one of the white boards and opened a dry erase marker. She wrote the letters "I" "S" "E" on the board.
"We have the letters "D" "E" "M" already." I said.
She wrote the letters under the other three. Easily putting it together, it spelled the word 'Demise'.
"Our demise is eminent." I said trying to crack a joke. Tamara shook her head, but there was a smile she let loose.
"We're covered in this slime. This can't be good for us. It's the remains of dead people. Did we see anything that could help us wash this off" Tamara asked?
"There's a sink down the hall in the break room, we can try and get some of this off of us there, I don't know what to do with clothes though." I pulled my first from my chest, it stuck to it. Looking down at my shoes and socks, they were beyond reproach at this point also.
"I mean, we are covered in this, we could try and wash our clothes off to, it's not like they can get any wetter." I shrugged.
We walked back to the break room area where we found the sink and started to wash off. Thankfully the spout to the sink was an extendable hand unit. The slime was coming off pretty easily from our skin. I helped Tamara to clean her hair, we wringed it out letting the clean water run down the drain. She took her shoes off and put them in the sink, I did the same, cleaning them and our socks.
