Place Home:

Time: Early Morning.

The portal wasn't anything magnificent, in an instant I was in the street just steps from my drive way standing next to Tamara. All of our weapons lay out or feet, with the exception of the Lance. I had no time to take in what had happened as I noticed my front door laying on the ground near the pouch.  Then I noticed massive claw marks in the cars leading up to the door way.

"Mom, Dad!" I yelled. Rage filled me and I ran up the drive way into the front living room, standing still to listen and look around.

Tamara followed suit behind me, her gun ready and a fresh clip loaded.  The living room was still in order and clean, nothing amiss. The TV sitting on its stand, both couches  and rocking chair lay in the respective places against the wall. Blankets folded neatly.

We moved into the kitchen, ready to attack anything down the hallway to our right as we crossed it. The kitchen was also clean, in the early morning hours, they should have been getting lunches ready but there was no indication of that. A quick peek in the converted garage  show everything normal as well, that left the back of the house, and where was our chihuahua dog spice?

Dread continued to fill me, my adrenaline was pumping hard and my hands shaking. We went to the hallway and moved down it, to the right was my room, messy as normal, no indication of any fights from early this morning. My bearded dragon was still in its cage and alive.  I spied my Katana on the floor.

Did he change out the katana like he said?

Bathroom on the left was empty, my parents bedroom, to my right and parallel to room, was empty and clean.

The back room was the office. The computer was on and someone was in the chair. My heart dropped, there was a massive hole through the back of the chair and a puddle of blood around it. I walked over. My dad was slumped in the chair, hand still on the mouse. He had no idea someone was in the house when they killed him.

My blood boiled. Where was my mom?

Tamara put her hand on my shoulder. I looked back at her and saw tears in her eyes. I couldn't cry, not yet. I had to finish this.

Attached to the office was a sliding door to the back patio. I slid the door open and looked around. Nothing. To the right was our pool, the color was off. My eyes widened in horror. The pool was dyed red! Red from the body parts of my mom and my dogs  floating around in it.

"Lizards may have been descendants of dragons at one point." A deep voice said off to my right. "It's something I'd like to think, so I left it alive."

A man in a black suit was sitting on the concrete picnic table to my right near the pool. I could see a red aura around him, an aura with the shape of wings coming from his back and horns protruding from his head.  It was faint but it was there.

I turned towards him and calmly walked over to the table sitting down opposite him.

Tamara stood back several feet, ready to shoot at a moments notice.

"Why did you kill them?" I asked as calmly as I could.

"This is my raison d'etre. My reason for being." His deep voice rumbled in my chest.

"Though, with the plethora of folk lore to draw from, my persona is skewed, you humans are nothing but imaginative. He took some creative liberties with me."

He got up and walked around towards me. Tamara immediately fired a few bullets toward him, his hand raised and stopped them all.

"You gave me power" His eyes flared red. "Power that is still growing"
