"I'M NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU BUT YOU ARE NOT COMING. THAT IS final!" I said frustrated with just how stubborn my sister could be.
"But why Jasey?" I couldn't help but let a smile slip onto my face as she was the only one who I allowed to call me that. She kept on pressing until I couldn't take it anymore, nothing was going to stop her: she was too like me that way.
"I found my mate." I blurted out, closing my eyes as I remembered the last time I saw her.
"Your mate? Really? What she like? Where did you meet her? Where is she?" She glanced around as if my mate was just going to be around the nearest tree.
"She's...amazing but she's...human and they took her to get to you. To get to you through me. I couldn't let that happen, I'm not going to let it happen."
Nikki reached out and touched my arm but I just shook her off when I wanted a different touch.
"Jason...I don't know what to say." She whispered softly.
"I love you Nikki but she's my mate, I have to go and save her. I don't know what's going to happen when I get there but one way or another she is coming out and you...you need to help her, protect her-"
"Whoah Jason, you're not going alone."
"For me. Please just do this for me. Stay at the vantage point and wait for her. I need to know that she will be safe and...happy. You need to promise me, I love her so much." I swiped angrily at my cheek as my tear ducts betrayed me and I couldn't stand to see her looking at me with pity. I'm the big brother, I had to protect her but right now I felt like I was two foot tall.
"Jason."
"No I need this. I need this Nikki. They've given me a deadline so I need to go. I need to get her out."
"When is it?" She asked, face determined.
"When is what?" Gripping my hair I kicked a stone on the ground until it wedged itself into a tree.
"Calm down. When is the deadline?" She gripped my shoulders and forced me to look at her. She was calmer and more focused than I had ever seen her and I knew that's what I needed to be but I couldn't see clearly, not about this, not about her.
"Noon. Two days." I spat the words out as I remembered the threat that accompanied it.
"Okay well we have some time, first you need to get some sleep and then we can start planning tomorrow."
I started shaking my head but she refused to let up and eventually I followed her into the cave to lay down on the floor.
"First thing tomorrow," I whispered into the darkness that my eyes were adjusting to rapidly.
"Sure thing, just get some rest."
"Yeah," I mumbled closing my eyes, surprised at how quickly I drifted off.
Sweating and shaking I burst from my nightmare that was way too realistic than I liked. Belle was being beaten and raped in the basement before slowly nearly being strangled to death over and over. Leaping to my feet I made for the light signifying the exit but it was blocked a second later by my sister.
"Move!" I shouted, pulse raising and breath haggard. "I need to get to her."
"Jason just relax, it was just a nightmare."
"Move Nikki, I don't want to hurt you but so help me. I need to save her."
I saw her hand as she reached to smack me and quickly stopped its movement but allowed the other hand to land as she made contact with my cheek.
