zander's pov

Nights have seemed to gotten more quiet and cold with Luke being out longer. He's currently in Law School to become a attorney, so he spends evenings studying and returns home later.

I'm not mad at his decision at all, i'm happy that he is given an opportunity to do his dream career, and i'm proud of him. Although, it feels quite lonely without Luke here.

I gazed up at the stars from the living room window, watching as the millions of small lights brought a luminescence to the dark atmosphere. The apartment was soundless, and I sat here all alone, waiting for my love to return.

The faint sound of keys unlocking the door disrupted the silence, which immediately caught my attention. I peered and watched as the door opened to reveal Luke standing at the entrance. He closed the door, locking it behind him and slowly walked towards the couch.

He sat down besides me as we locked eyes. I managed to get a glimpse of his features now that he was way closer. He looked.. tired. Dark circles were clearly visible underneath his eyes, as well as his sun-kissed golden eyes didn't have the usual glow due to him seeming so full of fatigue.

"Zan.." he muffled, wrapping his arms around my waist and laying his head on my lap. "Today was exhausting?" I asked. He nodded, slowly shutting his eyes.

"They made us take several major tests," he spoke in a soft tone. I ran my fingers through his knotted brunette hair as he leaned into the gesture. "I love you, sweetie," he whispered with a goofy grin on his face. I felt my face warm up towards the nickname. "I love you too."

We sat there in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, as I continued to play with Luke's hair and he laid in the same position. "How was your day, love?" he asked. "It was fine. I ran a few errands and other than that I was here."

He smiled in response and his eyes flickered open. He grabbed my opposite hand, which was at my side. He pressed his lips against my knuckles and I blushed slightly. "Your hands are freezing, babe." he said. "I know, they always are."

I glanced back up at the television which was muted for a few moments, then back down at Luke. His eyes were shut and he seemed like he was fast asleep, or on the verge of falling asleep perhaps. "Can we go to bed?" he asked. I nodded in agreement. "Yes, of course we can."

He sat up on the couch, rubbing his eyes weakly. I pecked him on the cheek and we both walked towards the bedroom.
