this is heavily inspired by a lander video on youtube, i'll leave it at the end of this oneshot. full credits to the owner. also i changed the story slightly.

"On Sunny Days I go out Walking..."

It was a bright and sunny day in the middle of Summer, a slight breeze was in the air. People could be heard throughout the neighborhood, enjoying the gorgeous day. Everyone was in good spirits, except for Luke Peterson. He laid on his bed, blatantly staring at the ceiling thinking about everything. The competition, his friends, and Zander.

Zander. His childhood best friend. His boyfriend. The person that matters to Luke the most. If only he hadn't left so soon.

A few months previous, Zander suffered from a sudden yet severe stroke. Unfortunately, he didn't survive. Luke was still grieving deeply from his lover's tragic passing.

Eventually, the auburn-haired boy came to a conclusion to take a walk to help him clear his mind. It was a nice day after all. With that, he stepped out of bed and was on his way.

"I End up on a Tree-Lined Street"

Luke was continuing on his walk, his shoes pattered against the concrete sidewalk. He took a left turn to notice he was somewhere that seemed oddly familiar to him. That's when he remembered.

"I Look Up at the Gaps of Sunlight"

Memories began to flood his mind. He was on the path that him and Zander would walk to and from school on together. This was where they confessed their feelings that were kept hidden for so long as well. If only Luke would've told him sooner.

"I Miss You More than Anything..."

Tears began to sting Luke's golden eyes that usually glimmered with joy. Eventually, he couldn't hold his tears back and began to sob uncontrollably. He could've had a future with Zander. The two could've went new places and done things together. But no, that opportunity was taken away from them. Luke then began to visualize his and Zander's last conversation;

Flashback :

"Luke... please don't mourn over my death for long. I want to be able to look down on you and see that you're living a happy life. Just promise one thing for me." Zander muttered weakly, as the beeping from the monitor beside him became slower. "Of course, love." Luke replied, choking back tears as he gently held Zander's cold, pale hand. "Please move on. If you want, find you a new lover that loves you just as much as I have. Get a successful job, make new friends, go do things that I was unable to do. All I ask is to see you happy." Zander said, a small smile appearing that was rarely ever seen. "I will do my best." Luke said, placing a gentle kiss on Zander's forehead.

"Thank you so much for everything, Luke. I hope to see you soon. I love you so much..."

"Rest well, sweetheart. Thank you..."

And with that, he was gone.

End of Flashback

Luke now sat under a tree, bawling over the remembrance of Zander's death. People passing by occasionally looked at him in confusion, but he could care less at the moment. Luke missed his boyfriend dearly. He then wiped his tears away, stood up and began to walk home. He was gonna continue to live a happy life...

For Zander.
