EZRA
When driving onto Rachel's street, I continue looking around at every house to notice that this town is fucking crazy with Christmas. Their front yards are surrounded with a bunch of giant inflatable Santa Clauses in a snow globe. How fucking ridiculous?. But it's not as ridiculous seeing a house on Rachel's side of view, that has multiple inflammable dancing penguins wearing colorful scarves and flashing lights on the roof of the house.
"Oh my god," I hear Rachel mumbling through her hands covering her face and starts shaking it, "Are you okay?" I sign and try to take them off of her face, "Yeah. I thought I told my parents not to put up that stuff but of course they don't listen. I'm so sorry," she apologized and uncovered her face; I slowly pulled over by the mail in front of the mailbox, "It's okay. I think it's nice that your family still does that and even celebrates it with joyful or whatever shit," I shrug my shoulders, she nods while turning on the radio, particularly Christmas music. I shut my eyes tightly to calm my nerves.
*Flashback* (Christmas 2011)
"Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling too—" Skylar continues singing very loud and clear
"Skylar Quinn?" Mom shouts out from kitchen where she's making her famous family recipe of baked Mac & Cheese, "Yeah mommy," Skylar shouts back as putting all of the gold glitter ornaments in one side of the tree, "Look Ezzie," she points at the tree, and jumps up and down with big smile on her face.
I hang up the last stocking above the fireplace, "Sky," I look around the tree and try to hold in my laugh, "It looks beautiful but Sky," I say in a low voice, she looks down, "You don't like it," she whines and frowns. I sign, pick her up and hand her the star that's been with us forever, "Sky, I love it. Do you mind if I help you? But first let's start up," I tell her, she grabs the star, "Can you put me on your shoulders like you always do?" She wondered and before I answered, I picked her up and placed her on my shoulders, "I'm on the top of the world," she shouts as my mom calls us for dinner.
*Flashback to reality*
"What's so funny?".
"What?" I look at Rachel, she pushes me aside, "You were laughing. What was it?" she asks sweetly. I didn't know I was laughing, "I remember when Skylar was little, she thought all the decorations were supposed to go on one side of the Christmas tree," I laugh at the memory. Rachel unbuckles her seatbelt, leans over towards me and kisses my cheek, a sweet and simple one.
I'm grinning like a foolish boy but who's taking anything and everything that he has, to earn the love and trust that was given from a girl like Rachel, "Do you need help with getting the presents up?" I suggest to help to get more time with her, she looks at the presents behind us that are stacked up you can barely see the back window, just a crack of it, "Yes please," she said and gets out of the car and opens the back seat.
...
I walk back to the apartment with my dinner in my hand, McDonalds because I can't eat if it saves my life; I go over to the fridge and reach for a beer, maybe one or even two will kill the silence that's been in since I dropped Rachel off. Today was a good day. I miss days like this, the days that I would make her smile and laugh until hearing that little pig just smile at me smile, I smile as if biting through a chicken nugget.
After eating and drinking more than two drinks. Two glasses of my own poison, tequila and a beer, I feel buzzed and dizzy so I plop on my bed quickly before throwing up onto my lap, "Son of a bitch!" I yell out as I smell all of the alcohol I consumed, and carefully walk my drunk and probably stinky ass to the bathroom. I take off my shirt along with my pants and leave my boxers and leave them on the floor. Now if Rachel were here, she would yell at me or give me this look that my mom gave me when I was little. I grab my phone from the phone, click on Rachel, I keep her phone number in case she's in trouble or she gives another chance after everything.
I don't have her as Rachel on here, she's under 'Raya' or 'Baby'. I changed it to Raya after she left Denny's. I remember we didn't even touch our food, we just talked... well she talked and I listened. I drink the rest of my beer to get rid of the dry taste in my mouth as the phone starts ringing. Seconds later, I say in such a sweet voice, "Hello?".
"What are you wearing?" I don't even say hello or anything like that, she probably knows by my voice it's me, "You know what you fucking weirdo, go pounf yourself ?" she spits out in a hurry. Her tone sounds annoyed and tired from yawning through the phone. She won't be yawning in a few, "Baby?". Rachel signs and I can already tell she's rolling those beautiful brown eyes here right now, "Ezra? Sorry I don't know it was you. I just thought it was a spam caller or an unknown number. I have gotten a lot of those," she laughs then stops.
I have an idea of who's calling her but I don't want to mention her to make her upset but I think it's already too late from hearing small wimps from the other line, "Raya, I'm going to ask a question. I want you to be honest, okay?" I request to her, "Okay," she softly says.
"Umm... are they really spam risks calls or is it your you know mother calling once again?" I ask with cold chills and sweat rushing through my body like a race and immediately she goes silent as soon I mentioned her mother, "Rach–"
"Since the beginning of Christmas, I have been getting calls from her saying she wants to see me and she misses me and others but I'm not wasting my time listening to her bullshit," she sounds annoyed answering the question, "When was the last time you went to visit her?" I ask and close my eyes to imagine myself beating the shit out of myself for almost pushing it too far from the amount of silence I'm getting, "Subject changed," she says.
"Rach–"
"Subject changed, Ezra".
"You are too tense," I joked with her.
"I'm sorry. It's just anytime I think about it, I get tensed up and sometimes yell," she apologizes as getting an idea if she accepts on doing it.
"I have something to ease you being tensed up," I suggested while smirking through the phone, "Okay. What's that?".
"Before telling you anything, I need to know an answer to my question from earlier. What are you wearing?" I impatiently ask her because I'm on a thin line with a hard stone between my legs, "Rachel, I have car keys right beside me, I absolutely will to drive you. I can just rip any clothing that's on you in a second. I don't' —"
"Ugh! A purple lace thong and a black t-shirt that I stole a while ago," she laughs and her laugh is still like music to my ears, "You will be the death of me woman, "I need to see it," I admit and she gasps, "W-What? Like a nude?" she questions.
"No baby. Just a picture of what you look like now but if you are feeling adventurous, please do take a nude," I admitted to her and gave her a choice without forcing her, I would never force her to do anything she doesn't feel comfortable doing it, "Okay," she responds. Seconds later, after waiting with luckily a hard rock still from the imaging she's been doing for the last five minutes, I hear my phone ringing and as I see the picture, I almost had a heart attack.
The picture is unspeakable, her pink looking all glossy probably from her strawberry flavored lip gloss that tastes so sweet like her. She had lifted up her shirt showing her belly button and the thong.
*Ring Ring*
I quickly pick up as soon as I see Rachel's name appear, "Hi sexy. Were you trying to shoot me through the phone?" I shot out before she speaks and all I hear is her giggle, "That's the goal," she answers.
This night will be the death of me and a long night.
But a good one.
