Queen of the Cold Castle

Chapter Three:

"So where is your dorm?" I questioned Millicent, "In the Vice tower room 50, you?" she replied. "Same but in room 70, right next to Lady Lesso" I said with a worried face, "Shit really" I merely nodded "good luck with that" she stated with sympathy. "Wanna go exploring" I asked wanting to know more about the school, "Always" she grinned. I smiled to myself glad I found a friend in that moment I decided I wasn't going to take shit from anyone, new school new life new me. 

The rest of the day we spent getting to know each other, she explained to me the basics of the school and little of its history along with bit about her. I found out she also only ever had her mother who lets be honest is a badass, her father left when her mom found she was pregnant with Millicent. We both realised our magic was quite similar and decided to end our exploring in the library to see how we could increase our potential power. On our way over we mostly found classrooms along with a few secret passages which would help in the future if we were to ever sneak around which lets be honest we probably would. 

I pushed open the heavy doors revealing a beautiful large library there were bookshelves all the way to the ceiling plus there was two floors, this made the bookshop at home seems like nothing. The shelves were all made from black wood and everything was well organised making me feel right at home, I was surprised that nevers would keep a room so tidy and well arranged. "Where to start?" I stated with awe, we began our way around the room picking up potential books I also selected a few I wanted to read such as the history of the school, the most famous villains and there stories. After reading a few chapters and trying a few simple tricks which we executed easily we decided to up the anti, I decided to try one of my mothers most well known talents which was ripping the heart out of her victims chests and Millicent would try her mothers hypnotising mind trick. 

"You first?" I suggested nervous to go first, "Alright, here goes nothing" she said. Her eyes lit up dark green as she tried to enter my mind, I could feel a pressure in my head but nothing spoke to me and I didn't feel any different. Several minutes passed as Millicent face began to go a dark red as her body strained, finally she let out an annoyed breath her face slowly returning to normal. "Don't worry you'll get it, it very hard to achieve." I smiled trying to reassure her, she gave a small smile "Your turn". I cracked my knuckles and stretched out my hands building myself up  "You can do this." I said but more to myself "Okay.. clear mind, clear thought. Reach in and grab." I continued. I looked into Millicent eyes to get her consent again, she nodded in affirmation. I cleared my head, my eyes glowing a bright blue and plunged my hand into her chest I felt my hands travel through her skin and between her ribs, thankful that my magic was working and not causing her pain. Next thing I knew I could feel a beautiful rhythm against my fingers, I wrapped my hands around the muscular organ and gave a soft pull back towards my chest. I looked down and was amazed, thrilled, everything happy emotion you could think of, the feeling was like any other. I was holding someone heart, Millicent heart glowed a bright red but mixed with a black streaks, the colours were almost dancing with each other continuously moving. "How do you feel?" I asked meeting her eyes, "Um fine I think. It was uncomfortable but not painful. Make me do something." she stated while gently rubbing her chest were her heart should of been. 

I thought for a moment "err jump up and down" I commanded her or her heart I suppose, not a second later she was jumping up and down. "On one foot" I command again, yet again she did it instantly. "Tell me a secret" I ordered her wanting to test a verbal response, "I think your really attractive" she blurted out before putting a hand over her mouth. "haha why thank you" I smirked with a chuckle. I released her from any commands and was about to put her heart into the empty cavity, "Wait! Give it a squeeze, I want to know how bad it hurts" she said. "You sure?" I asked uncertain, she gave a firm nod, with that i gently gave a soft squeeze slowly pressing harder. At first her face showed she was in extreme pain before she gave a loud painful cry, I quickly stopped "Are you okay?" I asked worried. "Yeah fine. That fucking hurt. Promise you'll never do that again unless I ask." she managed to say while catching her breath, "I promi-" I began before a loud bang was heard signalling someone had entered the room. I quickly placed my hand on her shoulder and rested her heart on her chest, clearing my mind I pushed her heart back into the correct place, she gave out a loud groan. 

"What's going on here?" a loud voice demanded, I spun around at the sudden noise, my eyes made immediate contact with none other than Lady Lesso. My eyes were still glowing blue and slowly returning to normal, I realised the position we were in and the noise Millicent made was giving off the wrong message. "Nothing Lady Lesso, we were just reading up about a few things." I blurted out trying to throw her off whatever she was thinking. "It's time for dinner, get out" she said in an intimating tone. "Not you" she said while grabbing my wrist as I was about to walk passed her, Millicent gave of a small 'good luck' smile before scurrying off towards the dinner hall. 

I gave a small gulp as I was abit frightened by the Dean, "I will ask again, what were you doing?" she said more quietly but no less intimating. "Just studying" I replied quietly not leaving her eyes, "mm about ripping hearts out?" she asked her eyes glancing over to the open page of the book that was resting on the desk. "Yes, just trying to feel close to my mum" I said which wasn't actually a lie, Lesso raised her eyebrow in response, "Im sure you'll make her proud, she was very talented. I have high exceptions". I was taken aback my what she said, it was as if she was trying to comfort me. "Thank you, I'll try not to disappoint you." I stated. "The trick with Tedros was funny and a good start but you'll have to do a lot better if Evil is to win." she said her voice going to a neutral tone. A few moments of silence passed unsure of what to reply. "Lady Lesso, Can I ask you a question?" I asked, "If you must" her face looking annoyed. "Why do I have my own room, all the other students have room mates?" I questioned.

"You were last to be picked by the school master as you're almost a reader but have a fairytale bloodline, therefore it was the only room available. I would think you'd be pleased it's much bigger and you don't have to share with any annoying brainless teenagers." she simply stated bored of the topic of conversation. "Oh okay thank you, will-" I began to ask another question but lesso interrupted swinging her cane "Enough.." I automatically flinched at the swing of the cane which merely went back on the foor. I hoped she hadn't seen my reaction "..of the questions" she slipped the last bit out as she was analysing my sudden movement. It was silent for a minute before she broke the awkwardness "You should be happy your right next door to my sleepy quarters" she smirked and gave me a seductive wink before turning a exiting the library leaving me alone with my thoughts.

As the silence consumed the library, an excruciating pain entered my head which made me double over clutching my head. "She not the only one you don't want to disappoint." a deep male voice said. "Who's there?" I shouted into the empty room, nothing but silence. "I have high expectations" the mysterious voice said before the pain began to fade. My face was pale unsure of what just happened.
