The dark science obfuscates much of the M'Verse in thick clouds that blacken the mind. Evil runs rampant across the galaxies.
But hope is not lost.
The High Council has discovered RJGlynn, a sensitive native to a faraway world in the Furthest Reaches. The M'Ship has been tasked with finding this sensitive and reclaiming them from the agents of darkness.
A team of bounty hunters aboard the M'Ship claims to have a reliable tip on this sensitive's exact coordinates.
Time will tell...
Quick! What's the first sci-fi thing that pops into your head!?
Alien – as in Ellen Ripley's face-hugger kind.
Original trilogy, prequel trilogy, or sequel trilogy?
The original had heart, humour, and endearing characters. The prequel had fancy CGI and a double-ended lightsabre. The sequel had BB8 ... and Admiral Ackbar being pointlessly spaced (don't get me started). So, I guess I'll go with the original trilogy. I'm a sucker for fun characters.
So, how has Tevun-Krus changed your life today?
In my communications with others, I can now use terms like "alien telepathy" without fear of being referred for psychiatric evaluation.
With your lifeline to your spacecraft broken, you hypothetically drift away into the depths of space. What's your last message to Earth?
Oh, yeah, thanks so much for THAT question. The "drifting out into the cold, eternal dark of space with no hope of rescue" is not at ALL a scenario that traumatises me every time I see it in sci-fi. So, what would I say as I hyperventilate the last of my oxygen? I'd like to think I'd say something meaningful, like "Earthlings, forget escaping to frickin' Mars. Protect and appreciate the magnetosphere-shielded sanctuary that is your home planet – you idiots!" But I'd probably be more worried about my friends and family, so, I'd likely offer some useless philosophy to help them come to terms with my imminent demise. (If you can't be brave, fake it.)
Do you remember the first author to really grab you as a reader? Are they still someone you read?
Susan Cooper (author of The Dark is Rising series). Loved these books as a kid, but haven't read anything recently from Cooper.
Explain your writing process for your fellow mothertroopers. Do you find real life adds "flavours" to your writing, or is it all imaginary?
I used to be a total pantser (just write and see where a story goes), but because I loathe major revisions, I now organise myself more at the start of a project (logline/brief story arc, main character journey, theme, setting, etc.). After that, I identify a fun place to jump in, free-write for a bit, then stop for more analysis and planning to keep things on track. As for how real life adds 'flavour,' it's all those relatable little details (sights, sounds, relationships, everyday dilemmas) that help readers experience (and build a picture of) a story world and connect with its characters.
