Kun thought he was getting better. After spending half of his childhood stuck with wires, hospital stays, stem cell transplants and sudden attacks, he assumed that would be the end of at. At least, that's what the doctors have told him.

But he knew this feeling. It wasn't a normal fatigue you could get from overworking yourself. That along side his skin turning a yellowish tint and abdomen swelling even though he was on a diet, that could only mean one thing.

It was back. Honestly, it was possible that it never left in the first place. The symptoms were something familiar to the boy, much to his displeasure. That brought back memories he thought were left in the past but sadly were not.

Thalassemia- a blood disorder in which the red blood cells don't produce enough hemoglobin. For visuals, normal red blood cells would look like red disks. The red blood cells of someone with Thalassemia would look like deformed disks.

This was an inherited disease and sadly, Kun just had to inherit it from his mother's side. Everyday, from the moment Kun tested positive, his mother blamed herself for passing it on to her son, no matter how much times he tells her it isn't her fault.

Now as such a bad time for it to return. Not now, not when they were getting ready for a concert. It wasn't just any concert, it was their first concert in a country that was not Southeast Asia, China or Korea. It was their first concert in Japan.

Some members, namely Ten, Winwin and Lucas have been to Japan for their participation in NCT 2018. Kun also has, but not the other three. Kun couldn't allow his sickness to ruin the experience of his younger members and their first time.

10 songs plus an encore is what they had to practice. Each song varied with intensity and genre, Kun can't seem to keep up. If he had to dance to Kick Back or Take Off one more time, his body will give up for sure. He wasn't feeling well.

They took a few breaks and Kun couldn't help but asses his skin tone and his temperature constantly. He didn't want to show his members that he was not feeling well but it was the paranoia of his sickness being back that got to him.

It was amazing how none of the members noticed Kun's skin turning yellow or his stomach not being as flat as it usually was. Perhaps they were too busy to notice, not that Kun cared or anything. He too was too busy and he wished he could ignore it.

"Once more, from the top!" Ten exclaims, talking about one more round of Turn Back Time. Kun was tired but he had to keep up the front of being fine. Another side affect he was experiencing would be anemia and because of that, weakness.

The members got to their positions and began to dance once the song began. Kun forced himself to dance even though his body was practically shaking with how much he's forcing himself. As Yangyang got to his lines, Kun couldn't stop it.

Right then and there, he dropped. His body shook as a cold chill ran through his body. Ten, Xiaojun and Yangyang rushed to his side, the other three boys running to him as well. He remembered feeling a hand shake his body before everything turned black.

Something about a stem cell transplant was the first thing Kun heard as he started to gain consciousness. From Kun's newly conscious mind, the only thing he could blurt out was "I don't think transplant work. Done there, been that..."

His voice was groggy but the sentiment of his sentence was understandable. "Kun!" All of the members exclaimed, not forgetting to add honorifics after saying his name. Ten was the only one who didn't need to do that since they were the same age.

"How are you?" He was obviously not as fine as he hoped but nonetheless, at least he was not unconscious. "Better... What happened?" Kun had an idea of what happened but he prayed that the news he was about to hear was not what he thought it was.

"You passed out due to a fatigue..." Ten answered. "Yes, a fatigue caused by a pre-existing sickness you have. Was no one informed of your Thalassemia?" The doctor spoke up. Silence meant no and that made the doctor sigh.

As Kun fixed his position on the hospital bed, he couldn't help but feel the stares coming from his members. As the doctor spoke with their manager, he knew that the members were not listening to him and were just watching his every move.

"Mr. Qian, we have to keep you in the hospital for monitoring before we do the next step which would either be stem cell or bone marrow transplant. Seeing as you have already done stem cell transplant in the past, we might have to do a bone marrow transplant this time."

The doctor left the C-pop group alone, their manager following to speak more with the doctor about papers and payments. The 7 boys left in the room were silent. The silence was deafening and awkward to say the least.; it could be cut with a knife.

Hendery was the one who broke the silence. "Why didn't you tell us about your sickness, Kun ge? Was this not important?" If Kun were to answer that honestly, he would have said no. He thought his sickness was gone and so he didn't bother bringing it up.

"Ge..." Winwin spoke up only to burst into tears. He was not one to be emotional but at this moment, his walls fell, as well as everyone else's. "We'll be with you no matter what," Yangyang says. "We won't leave you alone. We're a group."

The rest of the boys agreed. "We're practically family now," Ten adds. "If the company makes you resign because of this, we will leave as well." Xiaojun looked shock at the statement but with one look from Ten, he agreed; so did everyone.

Kun wanted to cry. His family was the only one who was there for him when he used to be hospitalized but now he had a bigger family, although crazy and loud, they were all loving and the bestest friends he could ever ask for.

"I don't mean to bring the mood down but... you do know this means Kun ge won't be able to promote or have comebacks with us until he's better, right?" Lucas says. Kun assured him it was fine. "You better get better. I know you can do it."

Kun gave them a half-hearted grin. "You're Qian Kun! You can do anything." He remembered the different comments from their fans saying how he can do anything. He remembered every time his parents encouraged him never to give up.

"Tell me something I don't know."
