🟢 Missing Puzzle Piece [Norenmin]

A/N: Part 2 of No Air

Jeno and Jaemin were enjoying their life together, just as they've planned all of those years ago. Jeno's company was flourishing and Jaemin's art career was at its peak. they had everything they've ever planned. And yet-

Something seems to be missing. What more could they wish for? They have everything a guy- or girl, could ever want! That missing piece in their lives  was so bothersome and yet, they still couldn't find the answer.

"There's a high school reunion happening in your school, Nono. I can tell your assistant to clear your schedule on that day." Jaemin suddenly says as he watches Jeno get ready for bed. "Reunion, ay? Wonder how they'll react once they see me."

Jaemin laughed and scooted over once Jeno was done getting ready. "Do you think Renjun's going to be there?" Jaemin asks. "I haven't seen him since... he left.." The couple were silent for a moment, reminiscing their moments with their old friend.

Renjun. Oh, how they missed him. Things were never the same when the Chinese boy left. Their friend group of 3 went down to just 2- and those two were dating! It may not seem like it but they really care for Renjun and hoped he was alright.

As the days went by, they had forgotten about that conversation and the day of the reunion was coming. Jaemin had already told Jeno's assistant to clear out his schedule. Soon enough, it was finally the day of the reunion and the couple were now getting ready.

It was a suit event, seeing as how majority of the people from that year have become successful and are rich enough to have suits- Jeno as an example. "Ready?" Jaemin looks over at his boyfriend. Jeno nodded, "Ready as I'll ever be."

They arrived at the venue around 10 minutes after the specified time. Never be early to a party people, always be fashionably late. It was just like prom again; coming to the gym, being in suits and ties, and walking in with your significant other.

Jeno was immediately bombarded by familiar people he has not seen since graduation. He introduced them to his Jaemin and talked about what they were doing and how successful they have all become. Jaemin was just politely listening to all of this when someone caught his eye.

"Nono, I'll be back, ok?" Jeno turned to his boyfriend and just let him leave. It would be rude to leave all of his old classmates alone while they were in the middle of a conversation. It felt like a business party only he knew everyone and they were all friends.

Jaemin skirted around the gym, moving around as he avoided people to reach the person that caught his eye. "Renjun?" Jaemin whispers under his breath, recognizing his old friend. The boy didn't realize that Jaemin was following him around.

Renjun kept walking around the party, casually greeting people who notice him and say hi. It took a while for Jaemin to catch up to the boy but once he did, Renjun was shocked to see Jaemin garb his hand. "J- Jaemin? Is that you?" Renjun exclaims.

Jaemin nodded and brought the Chinese boy into a tight hug to which was returned. "How are you?" The Chinese boy asked. "How am I? How are you? You just disappeared all of a sudden! Not a call nor a good bye! We were worried."

Renjun's eyes widened in alarm. We? Does that mean.. "Jeno is around here. He misses you too! Let's go to him." Before Renjun could leave, Jaemin grabbed his arm and dragged him to meet his boyfriend after years of no contact.

The boy was still in the same place as Jaemin left him moments ago. Jeno was still talking to a bunch of people and he looked like he was having a swell time. "Nono! I found him!" Jaemin held Renjun as if he found treasure.

Jeno abruptly ended his conversation and turned around to face his boyfriend. "Renjun?" Jeno's eyes widened in shock. Renjun waved back with a bit of shyness. Jeno was frozen in his place. Renjun was right in front of him after years of no contact.

He brought the boy into a tight hug, not wanting to let go. Jeno's body was shaking as tears fell from his face onto the black blazer Renjun had. Jaemin too was starting to tear up after watching his boyfriend and friend reunite after so long.

The hug lasted shorter than both of their liking, not that Renjun would admit it. He missed this. He missed them. Their time apart may have been long but it wasn't enough time to forget about all of the feelings he had for them. They were still there no matter how much he wished they left.

Renjun smiled at the two in front of him. "Did you guys achieve everything your heart desired?" Renjun asked. "Everything?" Renjun nodded. "Everything. Such as buying a house and living together, making that art gallery, and loving each other."

They looked at each other. They did achieve everything Renjun had mentioned. Renjun knew this as well. He visited the art gallery Jaemin made when he knew the boy wasn't there. He'd pass by their shared house when he knew they were too busy to go outside.

Renjun just wanted to hear everything they have achieved from them. The two boys knew they have achieved everything they have been planning as a couple since they started dating but, they felt like there was something in their lives that still has nor been accomplished.

They were a near completed puzzle and yet, there was a piece missing in plain sight. They searched everywhere and yet, they still could not find it. But perhaps, it was because they looked everywhere but not right in front of them.

"Don't leave us again, please." Jaemin whispers. "You can talk to us. We will never judge you." Renjun started to tear up as he hears these words. "Have you read my book?" Renjun asks the couple. Jaemin shook his head but Jeno slowly nodded.

"A worker of mine was reading it and I borrowed it from them.. Oh- Renjun." The dam bursted and our came the tears from the Chinese boy's eyes. "I'm so sorry for leaving. I just thought I was being a nuisance and butting into your relationship-"

"Shut up." Jemo cut him off. "You were never a nuisance nor were you butting in. We loved you, Renjun. You have no idea how worried and hurt we were when you left. We gave up hope. That was until I found out you had a book and read it."

Jeno held Renjun's trembling hands, making sure not to forget his own boyfriend's hands in the process. "I read your letter to us and all I could say is, we love you too, ok? Your feelings are valid but you could have told us. We could have talked it out."

Jaemin, who has not read the letter nor the book, just agreed with what Jeno said. Even without the context of the book, Jaemin agrees with what Jeno says as it was true. They loved the boy and he could have talked to them instead of walking away.

"Don't leave again... please?" Jaemin begs. Renjun didn't say anything for a while which scared the couple but when they heard little giggles, they knew it was all fine. "I won't. Not anymore. Not ever." The puzzle was now complete.
