"You really gonna do me like that?" My sister asks Talia

"Hey, the detective position's not yours yet. And youngest T.O. to youngest detective will move me up the ladder nicely. But if you can't stand a little competition..." Talia wavers off

"Please, Sophia and I grew up with four brothers in a two-bedroom. I'll be standing at the finish line before you even realize the competition's started." Angela says to Talia involving me which means I have to get involved

"Too bad I am not going for the detective position because I would most definitely get that position." I tell them both

"Hey, don't be over confident if you ever apply to be a detective." Angela tells me

"Well, good thing I won't be a detective any time soon." I tell them when we all stop and see one of the new boots rushing past us.

"Where you going, Boot?" Talia asks him

"Uh, locker room, then roll call?" The boot says to us sounding a little confused while me, Angela, and Talia look at each other thinking the same thing

"Oh, no. You need to present yourself to the Captain first. It's tradition." Talia tells him

"Down the hall, up the stairs." Angela tells him directions while I am silently laughing

"Uh, yeah. Thank you." The boot says while me, Angela, and Talia all smirk from how we can trick new boots while we head to the briefing room when Sergeant Grey walks in

"All right, all right. Settle down. Settle down. So, okay, we got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date. Get up. After six months together in the Academy, you've earned the right to be here. But you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?" Grey asks the boots

"Yes, sir." Boots all say

"Sit down. It's time to play the Training Officer match game. Our contestants are: Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dad's records at the Academy. And John Nolan, who was born before disco died. And the winners are: Officer Bradford, you get our hotshot. Officer Sophia Lopez, you get our legacy. Leaving Officer Bishop to ride with the 40-year-old rookie. Now, hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and listen to your T.O.s. They'll teach you the way it should be done. That's it. All right. Be safe out there. Officer Bishop, I need a word with your rook." Grey says and me and my boot head to our shop

"FIrst off this is your shop. Do not call it a car. It is where you work. Now before we leave you first check the exterior for damage, such as nicks, scrapes, or dents, and if you see any you log 'em in. Then you see if the suspect left anything, money, drugs, or a dookie. Now, onto the shotgun-safety check. Make sure it is empty, clear it. Close the action." I instruct Officer West

"We have police tape, road flares, spike strips." West tells me

"You're making my job easy, Officer West." I tell him

"Body-cam test."

"Log in to the computer. Put in both of our serial numbers." I tell him

"Test lights and sirens." He says then our shops siren chirps

"Now, last thing, check yourself. You are about to hit the street with a loaded handgun and have no idea what is about to happen next." I tell him thinking about James but then stop

Soon me and Officer West roll up to a very expensive looking house in a posh neighborhood. We get out of the shop and I knock on the door.

"Police!" I yell out then a woman opens the door, wearing a bathrobe.
