"How was work today?" Taehyung's psychiatrist smiled at the boy as she set down her coffee mug ok the table between the two. Like always, a notepad was seated on her lap and her long finger nails held onto her pen that was one of the man stuck on her pocket.
"It was okay, I was really sleepy though," Taehyung's voice was low due to being too tired, "The builders are coming back and Mr. Jeon's staff doesn't hate him as much,"
"That's good to hear," The woman smiled and jotted the boys current mood down, "Are you planning to sleep after this session then?"
"No, I need to go back to the office because I have some work to do, I've slept way too much lately anyway," Taehyung fidgeted with the sleeve which made him feel a little embarrassed since the woman began to guess why.
"Is that your second time since the incident at the office?" She asked softly, staring at Taehyung with concerned eyes. The boy was silent for a bit, before he slowly nodded.
"Please don't put me in an asylum- I promise I'll stop," Taehyung begged the woman who wrote the boy's behaviour down again, "I felt low, I can stop- I can easily,"
"It's not easy, Tae, I can understand that. You may think it's easy because self-harm is so glamorised and romanticised so it doesn't seem like a big deal- or it seems more appealing to do," The woman pushed up her glasses, "But we both know that it's not something to take lightly, this is a serious addiction you have."
"So? What are you gonna do?" Taehyung fearfully asked the woman who let out a sigh.
"Well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to call someone you know and tell them you're still actively self-harming-"
"No, no you can't! Everything's finally settling down again and if you make that call it's gonna create an issue," Taehyung begged the woman who felt guilty for having to make the decision.
"I'm sorry Tae, it's part of the risk assessment- I told you at the beginning that if you're doing something that's harmful to you then I'm required to call a someone," She put warmly spoke, "Can I please have a number? You still haven't provided me one."
"No! Just let me off this one time, I promise next time I see you I'll be clean," Taehyung's bottom lip quiver. It seemed to work when the woman stressfully removed her glasses.
"Let's try this new technique, I've just recently increased your dosage too so hopefully by our next session things will start to improve," The woman stood up and walked over to a cabinet, taking out a book and a
Taehyung watched her confused, "You want me to read?"
"No," She chuckled, "I want you to write down a thought, a voice or a fear that you have in this book," She placed it down in front of the boy.
"You want me to journal like some TikTok girly? You do realise I hear voices and almost kill myself because of those- you want me to write some shit?" Taehyung picked up the book with a disgusted look on his face.
"No, it's not journaling," She shook her head, "I want you to write down a thought like if you think your TV screen is telling you to cut, I want you to then write down whatever a voice might tell you, and then write down a fear like if your food is being poisoned or if your thoughts are being controlled by someone else,"
"Okay?"
"Then, I want you to think of a calm response to that. Like how TV screens can't talk and are just wires, how the voice is from your brain and so on. Then I want you to write down from a scale 1-10 how much you believe the previous symptoms,"
"How's that supposed to solve anything?"
"It can help you realise that those thoughts and voices aren't real, then hopefully you won't be following instructions to harm yourself as a way of punishment," She explained to the boy who slowly nodded and decides to take the book.
