Wally put his hand on my good shoulder, beginning to pull me back away from the door."C'mon, we can interview the next person and catch him off guard later." Wally said, leading me away.
I mumbled something in response, glancing back at the door. I thought everyone in the neighborhood would be friendly like Julie, especially if she's 'Best-Friends' with Frank. Wait.
"Wally, what was frank talking to you that day we were uhm.." I looked around awkwardly hoping he'd get the point.
"Oh! Him and Julie had an argument over a new specimen he was documenting. Julie was upset that he hadn't been spending as much time with her as usual and Frank was upset with her because he felt as if she didn't support him. An awful situation. Why?" He said, stopping in the middle of the path.
"Well, when I was at her house, she was very insistent on spending time with me. You'd think if the two of them were so close, they'd talk to each other instead. They were both outside at the same time, it would make sense for them to. Maybe she was upset at the fact Frank was hiding something from her. We should talk to her next, then we can get more information to work with on Frank." I said, turning my attention to the pink house just next door.
Wally's grip on my shoulder tensed, his voice lowering an octave.
"I don't think we should interview her. She's probably busy! We should just ask Eddie, I'm sure he knows just as much-" I cut him off,
"Wally, we need this information. She's the closest person to him. Why are you so worried anyways?" I said, shaking his hand off my shoulder and making my way up to the house.
I made my way up the cutesy white steps and knocked on the front door, feeling Wally's presence slowly emerge behind me. Julie came to the door, her eyes lighting up as she saw me standing there. Her door swung open violently as she gasped happily and pulled me into a tight hug. When she pulled away, I saw her eyes travel behind me and twist into a sort of fear. When I looked back at Wally, he was smiling down brightly at me. It must've just been my imagination.
"What brings you two here?" She said, clearing her throat.
"Oh! We were wondering if we could ask you a few questions about your friendship with Frank." I said, clicking the pen in my hand anxiously.
"That's.. okay. Yes, come inside." She said, stepping to the side of the door and allowing us to enter.
I heard the door shut as I sat down with Wally on her couch, soon being joined by her as she sat on the other side of me.
"Alright, how would you describe your relationship with Frank recently?" I said, flipping to a new page and titling it, 'Julie'.
"Hm. I'd have to say.. secretive. He's been so off lately, ever since the day I saw you and started talking about you. I don't know why!" She said leaning her head on me and watching me scribble down quick notes.
"You have such pretty handwriting." She said dreamily.
I heard Wally exhale loudly to my side and cleared my throat to break the building tension.
"Alright, so next question, what exactly does Frank document?" I asked, putting the back of the pen up to my mouth and biting on it.
"Easy! He catches different insects around the neighborhood and just.. studies them. He likes examining and drawing different wing patterns. But that's not the only thing I catch him studying!" She said, getting excited.
"I've caught him checking out Eddie a few times! Frank will go outside whenever Eddie delivers mail just to chat with him and act as if it were a coincidence." She practically squealed.
I noted that down. So far, I have their 'secretive' argument, Frank's interest in insects, and lastly Frank's romantic interest in Eddie.
"Alright, almost done! Have you ever been inside Frank's study?" I asked out of pure curiosity.
"Hm. Now that I think about it, no. I have never been inside of it but I've seen the outside plenty of times - a very pink door I must add." She said with a cheeky smile.
I hummed and jotted it down, then made a section for the fourth and final question.
"Julie, did you ever interact with the children that showed up here years ago?" I held my breath.
"Oh, them? No. I never really got a chance to since Wally said we'd ruin-" Wally stood up and grabbed onto my arm to stop me from writing.
"I think it's time we should go." He said, glaring daggers at Julie.
She smirked evilly up at him and laid her hand on top of my free one.
"Oh, please stay a while! I've been wanting to spend more time with you." She said, blushing.
Wally yanked me up quickly and released my arm just as fast.
"Darling, we still need to interview the others before dark. It's already three - let's get going, shall we?" He said, putting on a smile and gesturing towards the door.
I blinked a few times in confusion, what was happening? What did Julie know that Wally was keeping from me? I made sure to keep this all in mind as I waved goodbye to Julie and excused myself from the awkward situation, opting to sit on the porch step and finish writing down notes.

Wally;I watched them exit the room and waited for the door to shut fully before snapping my head around and glaring deep into Julies eyes. She gulped and stood, moving a few steps away as my pupils dilated uncontrollably.
"Why can't you ever keep your mouth shut?" I said, scoffing at her.
"This is exactly why Frank hates you, you can't ever let anyone have anything they enjoy. You just have to be involved in it too." I spat at her, watching her eyebrows furrow in response to my taunting.
"The friendliest neighbor in town without any friends, how pitiful. Maybe you should be the one to disappear next." I sang out innocently, spinning around her and laughing as she tried to avoid making eye contact with me.
"So, do us all a favor and just disappear." I said, smiling down at her.
"Wally!"
Our talk was cut short by the muffled call. I glanced to back to the door and made my way over, grabbing a hold on the knob before turning back to Julie.
"Do me a favor and keep quiet, okay dear?" I said sweetly, smiling as I opened the door and embraced my love.
"Let's go to Eddie next, he is Frank's romantic interest after all! I bet he has some great information." I said cheerfully, helping them up off the porch step.
They nodded in response and instructed me to lead them in the right direction, going on a monologue rant about the possibility of embarrassing Frank by misspeaking. Though, I wasn't really paying attention. I was too lost in thought,
Wondering just how fun this new game of detective could get.
