The meeting was successful, and my entire day was consumed by work. Everything seemed to be going well except for one glaring issue: Rajveer's presence was making everything challenging for me.
His manner of speaking, the way he articulates his points, his authoritative demeanor—all of it serves as a constant reminder of Sunny. Throughout the day, I made a conscious effort to avoid him, barely exchanging more than a few work-related words. I maintained as much distance as possible, wary of getting entangled in something that wouldn't end well. Deep down, I knew he wasn't my Sunny, so I resolved to simply steer clear of him.
Sitting alone in the garden, boredom crept in as I gazed at the sky, lost in memories of Sunny. Suddenly, I sensed someone's presence beside me—and to my dismay, it was the last person I wanted to encounter.
"Hi," he greeted.
"Hello," I replied, avoiding eye contact.
"Main abhi Tanvi ko ghar drop kiya," he mentioned, and I looked at him, puzzled. Why was he telling me this?
"So?" I inquired, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Mujhe laga tum ladki ho, aur ladkiyan aise sawalon ka jawab poochti hain, na? Tum kya kar rahe the? Kaha the? And all, Isiliye maine poochha," he stated, as if it were an obvious fact that I should know.
"Aur tum mere kya ho jo main tumse aise sawal poochungi?" I retorted, giving him a sidelong glance.
"Fair point... My bad," he chuckled, but after a two-minute silence, he resumed speaking.
"By the way, kya tum hamesha aise saddu chehre se.." I glared at him, "...I mean, are you always this introverted, or am I special?" he inquired.
"Sorry?"
"Oh, it's okay if you accepted. Par batao na, kya meri shakal tumhe pasand nahi aayi? Itni buri bhi nahi hai, yrr. Tum mujhse baat nahi karti ho, na hi meri taraf dekhti ho," he said, and I stared at him before replying.
"Aisa kuch nahi hai," I sighed and once again averted my eyes from him.
"Agar aisa nahi hai, toh phir tum sabse baat karti ho, mere siwa. Meri taraf dekhti tak nahi ho, jaise main koi bhoot hoon. Batao, kyun?" he asked, sounding like a stubborn child.
"Maine kaha na, aisa kuch nahi hai," I said, feeling a little frustrated. I really didn't want to talk to him, and here he was trying to strike up a conversation with me. Ugh, god.
"Accha thik hai, thik hai, bhadak kyun rahi ho? Mat batao," he said, sounding scared, and kept quiet for a whole five minutes, but then he spoke again.
