Talks of sexuality
____________________________________Although Regulus never used to be so straightforward, he felt it came naturally when talking to James'. The way his skin flushed and set a warm eclipse over his freckles sent him overboard.
His sexuality was never a subject to be challenged, Regulus had always known that he liked men, even with the pathetic attempts his mother made to change that. Men have always been attractive to him, but James was gorgeous. Not just with his looks, though he was beautiful, but the little things that he's sure no one was to notice unless they were looking for it.
The roll of his tongue when he pronounces his 'r's', the shadows his eyelashes leave against his cheekbones, and the rapid rise and fall of his chest when someone stands too close.
It was safe to say that Regulus was besotted with this boy, and he wasn't going to stand around and gaze from afar, he had a mouth and he was going to use it.
So that brings him here, outside the building that James and Regulus were just in. He squinted his eyes as he felt the relieving burn of the sun from behind his closed eyelids.
"Enjoying the sun then?" Regulus' eyes stayed shut as footsteps grew nearer.
"Who isn't?"
"Vampires maybe." The voice offered, he heard the flick of a lighter and a nudge to the arm, "Want one?"
Regulus huffed and opened his eyes, grabbing the cigarette before looking at who it belonged to.
"You believe in Vampires?" It wasn't exactly a thank you, but he could of easily walked away from the person, instead he continued with the conversation.
"Oh yeah, Werewolves too." He points at the scar across his nose and wiggles his eyebrows, "Hand to hand fight with a werewolf, bloody strong fuckers they are I'll tell ya." He outstretched his hand, holding out the lighter.
Regulus snorted and took it, lighting it before giving it back, "Alright Edward pack it up."
The man laughed and took a puff, "Remus will do."
"Remus? Shit name that is." He stated simply.
"As if Regulus is any better." Remus flicked the ash, watching it drift towards the ground slowly.
"My name could get your entire outfit for free." Regulus looked out towards the track, that was starting to line up with the first racers due on.
Remus scoffed and looked down at his outfit, "Mate you wouldn't want this shit, it stinks."
He was right, the bright orange colour he was wearing hurt Regulus' eyes. The splotches of oil and dirt didn't go unnoticed either, he moved back slightly.
"You didn't have to tell me that, I can smell you from here." He grimaced and gave Remus a once over, "Wet dog."
In his defence, he wasn't trying to be mean, Remus truly did smell like wet dog, but maybe that was just the stench of tobacco confusing his nose.
Either way, he laughed at Regulus' comment and shrugged, "Blame the weather."
He looked away again, "I'd rather just blame you."
"Charming." Remus commented, he took another drag before stubbing the bud into the wall behind him. "I've got a job to do, I suppose you're on in a few?"
Regulus looked over at Remus again and nodded, "Probably."
The boy nodded along with him, "It was good meeting you Regulus, I hope we see more of each-other."
Remus walked away and Regulus laughed to himself. Who had told the Pit-Stop staff that it was okay to talk to him? He didn't want a friend and he certainly didn't want to see more of him. He wanted to see more of James, but somehow he's the hardest to find.
His eyes went back to the sun that was viciously biting at his warm cheeks. In a way, James reminded him of the sun.
When he enters a room, laughter and light follows. When he leaves, the bright glare dims to a dark shadow and the laughter turns silent. As if James was the centre of the universe, everything travelled around him like clockwork, all for a glimpse of the sun.
Regulus needed the sun to live, to breathe even. The sun was vital for his survival, and when he's with James he feels more alive than ever. The rush the car gives him is absolutely nothing when compared to the sound of James' soft voice.
He always felt like something important was missing from his life. He could independently recognise the hollow gap his elder brother Sirius had carved when he left home, but there was another open space that nothing seemed to fit into.
Until James stood in-front of his Raging engine with a cheeky grin on his face. He knew that James would fit perfectly into that space, and keep it warm for him too.
Regulus didn't know how he wanted to play this, should he admit how he feels immediately and go after the boy he knows he's been waiting his whole life for? Or should he play it cool and wait for that boy to come to him?
He had no fucking clue, there was no book on how to handle this type of situation, and if there was then he wasn't reading them because what type of idiot falls in love with a guy he's met twice?
Oh, that's right. Him.
What the fuck had he gotten himself into? He's already cold without him, even with him standing directly underneath the Summer heat.
James potter would be the end of Regulus Black, but he was also becoming the start of him too.
