The races didn't continue for two weeks, Remus was stuck in the cage he was so used to calling home, as Sirius distracted him with a profound amount of texts from the phone he only just managed to get back. Even though it had been 14 days, Sirius was never asked to come over, despite him hinting on multiple occasions, Remus refused to introduce the purest thing in his life to the house that was filled with the thick shadows of his past, he wouldn't let it happen.

While the boys both took this time as a much needed break, others couldn't quite grasp the idea of spending weeks trying to avoid the sight of police.

Regulus was one of them.

If he could evade his mothers obsessive watchdogs that prowled the streets in search of her rogue rebelling son, he could handle the task of dodging a few poorly driven cars. There wasn't a real reason why he was doing this, he just wouldn't let himself be cornered into hiding, but he also wouldn't let himself miss an opportunity to possibly bump into James on one of his hourly walks.

Not that he was bothered if he didn't, of course, as James was a guy he's practically just met. He's not expecting anything from James, and he doesn't care about him. At all. Even when his friends are over, talking to him about their newest fixations, and though he nods robotically, his eyes are dazed and his head's filled with silver chains wrapped around dark skin, crawling up his spine as breathless whines echo across fogged car windows.

He's not bothered about him when he's pushing his hand against the marble wall of the shower, the spray of hot water landing across his body multiplying the pleasure that radiated through his veins, as he jerked off desperately to tight fitted shirts and leather pants.

James wasn't exactly managing any better than Regulus. With his mother keeping him home while the police doubles across the town, he's left with no entertainment but himself.

He used his time alone wisely, balancing between messaging friends, watching shows, spending time with family and thinking of Regulus' curls as he lay in bed alone. He felt bored, lonely and bored. Regulus was a hard head and hadn't offered James his number, so no contact was possible between the two. With that, his attention slowly drifted away from the only activities he could do, and instead he tried exercise.

This was a stupid fucking idea because James had nothing to run from, there was no one he was scared of, and there was nothing he had to hide from. He's always faced things full on, everyone knew how open James was with his thoughts too. Running wasn't something he enjoyed, but it was the only thing that looped around the rules set by his mother, she couldn't keep him locked inside forever.

Although James had clearly missed Regulus, and thought about him whenever he could, it was quite a shock to the system when his thoughts of the boys rural green eyes were interrupted with the exact same shaded ones.

He rambled foolishly, "Oh fuck man— Jesus- Wait, Regulus?" The street was mostly quiet, with both boys stood silently on the walkway.

"What are you doing out?" He ignored James' question, and instead asked his own, a look of bewilderment spread on his face, "You really can't be serious."

"No, that's your brother."

A slow silence loomed over them both, Regulus' face dropped into an unamused frown, as James' held his hand over his mouth childishly, trying to cover his quiet laugh. "My bad, anyway what are you on about? I'm not doing anything wrong?"

The boy raised his eyebrows, squinting at him like he was a confusing equation, "We have the police sniffing our asses and you're out in broad daylight on a walk?"

"Firstly, no one is sniffing my ass thanks, secondly, aren't you doing the exact same thing? You better re-word that entire sentence, because I know damn well you aren't angry because I am on a walk?" James' retorted sternly.

"Right— My apologies, I didn't mean it like that. The police are on all our backs, I just don't want someone getting arrested, you know?" He rubs his nose and sniffs, looking to the side.

"I could say the same for you." James replies.

Regulus shakes his head, distracted by a bird walking warily past them, "It's different, I know what I'm doing."

He scoffs and relaxes his shoulders, crossing his arms, "What tells you I don't?"

"Given the fact you wore leather pants the day it was over 20 degrees, you don't have the most common sense in the world ." He states.

"Well given the fact you race illegally on roads that could kill you, neither do you."

The side of Regulus' mouth lifts upwards, and he shoves his hands in his pockets, "I'm just saying, you need to stay safe."

James looks over at him, there's a pause between them, birds chirping chaotically in the trees lining the path, "Then walk me back home, would you?"

Regulus thinks about it for a moment, checking his watch before glancing back at the boy, "Lead the way."
