Chapter 19

Your pov

          "You can't be serious" Ominis yelled at Sebastian, before gently putting me down on the chair and standing up. "They call and you go running?"
          "Ominis, this might save Anne. I need to go" Sebastian yelled back, the letter the owl had in his hand. "Sage has been learning magic we can't understand, and they finally found something that might be able to help Anne. They can take her pain-"
           "Sebastian you are acting like a fool. You know nothing of this magic and neither do they." Ominis paused and turned away from Sebastian, clearly getting more and more upset.
             "I've seen them! They are incredible, and you weren't there this week when they-"
           "This week?" Ominis cuts him off and turns back around, "that's where you've been, not at your uncles, actually seeing Anne, but with them?"
            "No, no I did go see Anne" Sebastian sighed and looked over at me for a moment, before avoiding my gaze. "We went back to the scriptorium, found some things out Ominis. I need to get this relic and it will be the key to saving Anne. I know it is. My uncle just doesn't understand, that's why he forbade me from seeing Anne."
            "You're uncle for bad you from seeing Anne?" I asked as I stood up and looked at the letter, before shaking my head. "Scriptorium? What is that?"
            "It doesn't matter, Ominis and I-"
           "Wait wait, Ominis you've been helping him with this?" I asked and looked over at Ominis, who paused his pacing and looked up. "You two have been running off with Sage, and not telling me anything?"
             "I didn't tell you because I watched Sebastian cast crucio on sage just to get into that place." Ominis sighed, stepping close to me but I backed up away from them both.
             "I will explain later, but for now Ominis we need to go" Sebastian said and reached out for Ominis. 
              "I'm not going to leave (y/n) here" Ominis answered and tried to brush Sebastian off. I shook my head and looked at Sebastian.
             "No, both of you go. I hope this is everything you are hoping for Sebastian." I went and opened my bedroom door and looked at seb, "go find your relic"
               Sebastian looked at me, hurt showing for a moment before he got upset, "I don't know why you both think I'm mad for this. I have to save Anne." Sebastian got upset, before grabbing Ominis and leaving my room quickly. I heard them arguing slightly as they left the room. Once they had walked out I shut my door and sat down on my bed, wondering why they had kept secrets from me, especially ones that seemed dangerous.

It had been weeks since they had ran out of my house to respond to sage, and I hadn't heard from Ominis or Sebastian since. Classes were continuing as normal, and nothing had seemed to change as far as I knew. I hadn't found out what happened, if anything had at all. All I knew is now Ominis and Sebastian weren't talking either, and I had no explanation for anything.
My only excitement now was the fact the school was taking another hogsmede trip. Of course, I was going alone. I wasn't going to sit around the castle the whole time so I had decided to go with poppy. She had noticed I was upset in our beast keeping class and had invited me to tag along with her.
"So, I was thinking we could go to the three broomsticks and have some butterbeer, and then we could go to honeydukes, and then we can go to-" poppy ranted on and on about all the places she wanted to visit while we were here, and I tuned her out on accident. It was hard to focus, but I was really trying to seem interested in everything she talked about. She seen honeydukes and paused, "okay so change in plans, I desperately want sweets first, is that alright?"
"Of course" I laugh and follow her inside. I get a bit sad as I remember goofing off in here with Sebastian and Ominis. "Do you have any suggestions on what to get?" I ask her as we enter the shop. She drags me off to one of the sections and points out all of her favorites.
"I think if I get everything you suggest I might die" I joked with her, before looking at one in specific. "Hey do you know if this one is good?" I ask her as I turn back to her.
"It's new, very popular right now" a voice said from behind us and I turned even more. I looked up and made eye contact with a handsome man, who was giving me a smile, "if suggest getting it before we sell out"
"Ah, I'm not sure it could be that good" i hum and look back at the candy. Poppy looks at me and then casts a glance at the guy again.
"In that case, let me buy you some and you can give me a review" he said as he reached around me and grabbed the box. His arm brushed my shoulder as he reached and I looked back at him. Now that I was actually looking at him I realized he looked our age, and semi familiar. He had slicked back black hair, and piercing grey eyes, as well as being very tall compared to me. "Can we call that a deal?" He asked as he looked down at me and smirked.
"Sure, but it will be an honest review" I tell him as he takes the chocolate and leads me over to the register. He buys the candy and then hands it to me, leaning against the register as I opened the box and took one of the chocolates out and tried it.
"Hmm it's good, but not as good as you made it sound" I told him. He laughed at me and ate one as well, before nodding in agreement.
"Definitely not worth the credit I gave it, you're right." He said and looked over my shoulder as poppy ran up.
"Excuse us for a moment!" She yelled as she dragged me to the other side of the store. "Do you know who you're flirting with??" She asked in shock as she glanced back over at him.
"Ah, should I?" I asked her and glanced back at him. She rolled her eyes at me and then laughed.
"That's Damian Lovelace" she said and paused, expecting me to recognize the name, "oh my I forget how little you socialize. He graduated last year, he was head of the quidditch team, won several duels at crossed wands. I had heard he was working here while studying to become an auror"
"Ah that's why he looks familiar. I must have went against him a few times at crossed wands" I said and laughed, "can't imagine he was any good if I don't remember much about him."
"I couldn't say, I didn't ever see the duels. But I do know he was extremely popular in his grade" poppy laughed and went quiet suddenly. I looked behind me just in time for Damian to walk up to me.
"So, I have a few other chocolates you might like, would you mind testing them for me? I'm about to go on break so we could step out of the shop," he paused and glanced over to where the owner stood, "give me real opinions so I know what to try and not sell to people, even if I'm being forced to" he whispered the last part to me and winked.
"I don't know-"
"She would love to, afterall me and her were just finishing up and she needs someone to accompany her" poppy said as she patted my shoulder, "I have to go catch up with Amit anyway." And then poppy seemed to quickly disappear after throwing me to the wolves. Damian watched her leave and looked back at me and laughed.
"I think that's her way of telling you to agree" he said, and offered me his hand. I looked around, before begrudgingly taking his hand. Afterall, I wasn't here with anyone anymore, so what else did I have to do besides go back to the castle early.
"Fine, but I won't lie to you if the chocolates are bad" I tell him as he takes my hand in his and drags me out of the store. I stumble after him and follow him towards one of the nearby stone fences.
"So, you're a student at Hogwarts correct?" He asked me as we sat down on the fence, facing the busy streets of hogsmede, "I think we dueled once at crossed wands."
"Ah, yes I'm a seventh year." I said and blushed as I looked at him, "but I have to admit I don't remember our duels."
"No offense taken, you beat me so fast I doubted you'd remember." He laughed and handed me a chocolate. I popped it into my mouth and looked over and noticed poppy in the distance pointing at us to Amit and Garreth. I rolled my eyes and leaned back on my hands and looked back at Damian. "You are an incredibly skilled witch"
"Oh I don't know about that" I laugh, but he looks at me and smirks.
"Before you I was undefeated, so I'd say you're skilled." He said as he nudged me with his elbow. "Are you planning to put that to use after Hogwarts?"
"Actually I was considering working at a sweets shop" I admit to him, which makes him burst out laughing. I realized how funny it was for me to say that since he currently worked at honeydukes. "I see now that it is funny I mention that."
"Extremely, but the job is enjoyable" he replied and offered me another box. I looked down and shook my head no, "no, don't even say you won't take it. I already paid for it and I can get more, I have access all day after all."
"Alright but you should let me pay you back" I tell him as I reach for my pocket to grab a couple galleons to give him.
"Alright, then you owe me a date" he said as he stood up and stretched, before offering a hand to me. I stutter in response, trying to say something about how I can't go on a date with him. "Unless you are already taken?"
I pause, realizing I didn't truly have anything stopping me. I wasn't sure where I stood with Sebastian and Ominis, seeing as neither of them had spoken to me. I sighed and took his hand and let him help me up, "alright, one date. But only because I don't want to owe you anything."
"I'll take what I can get" he laughed, before lifting my hand up to his lips and kissing it. "How about you meet me here later this week after the shop is closed?" He asked me, keeping my hand in his as he lightly pulled me closer to him. "I promise to behave, if you're worried about that."
"I wasn't. Should I be?" I laugh and look up at him. I realize we are extremely close and he smirks as I start blushing.
"Only a little" he whispered and let go of my hand, before waving goodbye to me as he walks back to the shop. I stand there for a moment, surprised that I had just agreed to a date with someone I barely remembered from school.
"(Y/n)!" Poppy yelled as she ran up to me, Garreth and Amit following behind her. "What happened? What did he say?" She asked excitedly.
"Ah, he gave me this" I lift up the box of chocolates, "and I agreed to a date with him." I told her, and she excitedly looked back at Amit and Garreth
"I told you! I knew you two were flirting." She said and grabbed my hand and pulled me off towards the three broomsticks, "you have to tell me more. What else did he say?"
"Why did you agree to a date?" Garreth asked and I looked back at him. He was extremely confused and seemed concerned, and I remembered he knew I had been dating Sebastian and Ominis.
"Well, I'm not seeing anyone" I told him, hoping he was smart enough to pick up on what I was implying.
"Ah, of course." He said and followed us along to the three broomsticks
"You have to keep me updated on your date with him. I've heard he is rather charming" she said as we walked into the three broomsticks.
"That much was obvious" I laughed and glanced down at the box, a little torn about going, but excited to at least do something g to get my mind off of everything.
