(CJ's POV)

People say that ghosts aren't real. That they're just scary stories people tell to scare each other. Most don't even believe in angels, demons, or the afterlife. They don't even believe that Heaven and Hell exists! If I'm being honest, I think those people are just critical. There are many mysteries in the world we live in that just can't be explained by judgement alone. I guess just because you can't see, or hear, or feel something, that does not mean we can't believe that it's not true. Sometimes... all it takes is a leap of faith, to know the outcome of it all.

With that being said, I remember reading an old quote in a text book in class. Some guy by the name of Carter Slade once said, "It's said that the West was built on legends. And that legends are a way of understandings things greater than ourselves. Forces that shape our lives. Events that defy explanation. Individuals whose lives soar to the Heavens, or fall to the Earth. This is how legends are born." I never understood what those sentences mean, but I never dwelled in it. As I sat in my desk in History Class, the sweet sound of the school bell rang in my ears. Finally! I thought that I would start to drool from boredom!

As I began to walk out the door, I was just about to place my earphones on, when I heard some jock picking on another student

???: C'mon, nerd! Tell me!

???: Aaah! I can't tell you, Jake!

Jake Marks. He is just some typical high school bully you'd find in most schools these days. The guy he was grabbing by the shirt was someone else I knew of.

Carter Nolan was the school nerd, and one of my best friends. And no, he's not that kind of nerd who wears glasses all the time. His appearance is actually decent enough to be liked. This situation, however, wasn't his best days ever. And that pisses me off.

Jake: I'll give you one fucking chance to tell me all the answers to tomorrow's test, pipsqueak!!

Carter: If I give you the answers, it'll be cheating, and the teachers will know how you got them! Everybody knows you don't study, so I can't tell you!

Jake: OK, you runt! I warned you!!

As he was going to sucker punch Carter to the face, I had every right to step in, and block his move with my hand, and quickly knock him off his feet with one of my legs. Everyone else saw this and thought that I had a death wish. Jake was the one of the tough football jocks in Fontana High, and most regular students gets a regular beating from him. He was just going to recover, when another tougher jock came up to him. This one, though, was someone I am best friends with. He's Sam Barrett. A former Southern Texan rancher, and the best high school football quarterback. He grabbed Jake by the arms, and held him like the way a cop arrests a criminal.
