Saiyah sucked in a breath. Now being 16, they were to use actual magic. She didn't want anyone to know about her curse. So she dragged her feet to Combat 101 where they were going to learn the basics of self defense using their powers. An arm curled around her shoulders. Saiyah jumped only to meet wide hazel eyes framed with glasses.

Romelle Varga.

Saiyah's first friend during her time at the academy. Despite her innocent appearance, bubbly personality, and only being 5'4"; Romelle was terrifying and ruthless if provoked. "Are you excited?" She chirped, playing with a strand of curly red-brown hair. She wore a lime green and orange hoodie that ended just below her belly button. Her skirt reached her mid-thighs and her cat socks met them there. She enjoyed wearing her knee-length orange boots, which had little false wings on the ankles. Because they were older, the professors didn't care so much about uniforms.

All Saiyah could do was shrug. Beside Romelle, Saiyah was awfully plain looking. Her indigo hair was tied in a low ponytail, her curtain bangs reached her nose. She had freckles now, which made her look even more plain. And her dark red eyes were nearly brown. She wore a maroon hoodie, gray jeans, and calf-length combat boots.

Although she didn't care for her looks because she often appeared to be a sickly girl. Unless....Zadro was nearby. The spell he cast on all the girls at the academy affected her as well and she hated it.

"Hurry up!" Romelle called, now ahead of her. Saiyah blinked, she hadn't realized she slowed her pace. "Let's get to the gymnasium quickly and beat up some boys!" A smile tugged at Saiyah's lips as she sped up.

"Most of you have been taking combat classes since you were little brats." Coach Tyson spat. The class had stood in a line, the instructor paced past each one of them. Tyson always made Saiyah uneasy, he enjoyed putting her on under the spotlight because she never openly spoke of or used her power.

Not after what happened to the Headmaster.

"But adding magic into the mix can turn the tides in a battle. If used properly, it could be used to save lives....But it can easily be used to kill." Saiyah shifted from one foot to another, a dance that she did when she was nervous. To her left, Romelle beamed with enthusiasm.

"The only thing you're killing is the exciting mood with your shitty lectures. Shouldn't you be retiring soon, old man?" A voice thundered at the end of the line. Saiyah and Romelle groaned, knowing well who the voice belonged to.

Xeviero Tsudan.

But Saiyah called him Vex, it was a much more suitable name. Coach Tyson stopped in his tracks and whirled around to face Vex. The student's attitude never changed over the course of four years. Now he had his ruby hair that faded to gold tied up in a wolf tail behind him. The sides of his hair were cut close to his head. An eyebrow piercing sat over his left brow and a scar overlapped his right one. It was almost sad. He could've been attractive if he didn't have such a difficult personality.

Tyson glared at the young man, Vex glared back with his glowing sapphire eyes. If it was a test of strength alone, Vex would succeed. But if it were a test of control and stamina, the winner would be Tyson.

The coach used his magic in the form of a super power, which granted him super speed. Casting spells were forbidden in the school after an 18 year old a few years ago made Vex spit out worms. It was disgusting to watch, but the boy likely deserved it.

Instead of a brawl, Tyson ignored the insubordinate and resumed his speech. "Each of you will take your magic and give it a form. Whether that be super strength or invisibility or whatever." The class began to fill with excited murmurs to one another. "But," Tyson continued, suddenly serious. "Speed is my thing, ya hear?"
