This was not the whimpering girl from several minutes ago. This was a mindless creature surging with power. By Gods! The Headmaster tossed off his cracked glasses. So much power!
The girl bent shadows to her will, and they closed in on Raiko. The objects in the office spiraled around her, a twister of darkness at her fingertips. She gathered some of it, taking the form of a weapon.
A scythe.
Interesting choice.
She charged, slashing the weapon at him. He ducked, dodged, stepped to the side. She was fast. Really fast. Then pain rushed through his arm. He growled and turned around, seeing double. Behind him, the second girl sliced his arm off. He looked briefly over his shoulder, the girl he'd been dodging faded away.
The Headmaster raised an eyebrow. Shadow copies? He cursed at Skip for teaching the girl an illegal shadow spell. His arm glowed gold and began to piece itself back together. He pushed her to create distance between them, he was no longer going to hold back....
She matched him in speed, rivaled him in strength. Just who was this kid?! He released a wave of gold on her, The Slice, he called it. It seared through her limbs, detaching both of her legs. He felt a bit guilty, but she was actually trying to kill him. The girl flew back into the east wall with a sickening crash. Raiko could revive her missing parts later.
Dust and plaster filled the air, a cloud concealed the girl. A cough erupted from the sorcerer's throat. Suddenly, a blur collided into him, throwing him off guard. The girl pinned him down, digging a knee between his shoulder blades. Impossible. He was sure he cut her legs off. Not even he could recover so fast. From the corner of his eye, he saw shadows wisp around the girl's fingertips.
A scream escaped his lips...
Saiyah sat outside the Headmaster's damaged office patiently. Her memory was a blur after she unleashed her power. She just hoped she didn't hurt him badly. Skip was currently speaking with him, but it was silent. That is what scared her.
The demon had taken her in and trained her. He saw her potential and brought her to the Banthikaar Wizardry Academy. They admitted students from 13 to 19 years of age. 7 years of training and to control my curse...Saiyah thought meekly.
~
Skip nearly recoiled when he saw Raiko. The man's right eye had been injured, black veins pulsed beneath the skin on the injured side of his face. A dull yellow swam in a pool of black, where there should have been white. The skin on that side was burnt and a charcoal gray color.
"My little shadow did that to you?" Skip asked, not knowing to be proud or horrified. Proud that he taught her well. Or horrified that the Raiko Banthikaar, one of the most powerful magikers alive, couldn't use his magic to heal the wound.
Raiko caressed his scarred cheek, a gloomy expression on his face. "I'll take her."
"You're sure about that?" Skip pulled his lips tightly to one side, straining to believe what he said.
"She's too dangerous on her own and undisciplined. She lacks any restraint." Raiko replied.
A muscle tightened in Skip's jaw. "In that case, I'll make sure to see how she's adjusting." He turned to leave when Raiko spoke.
"You hate children." He said. "So what were her true intentions when you took the girl in?"
"Originally, I thought she'd make for a light snack." Skip just sneered. "But do you know why the Green Wizard kept her alive?" Raiko leaned closer, intrigued. "Magic can devastatingly unlock during events of trauma. Our most powerful magikers had been traumatized in childhood."
