Saiyah: Week 1 Training Report

Period 1 → Strength Training: While I've never been properly introduced to Professor Malin until now, I've heard much about him. And I can confirm that the rumors about him were true. He loves explaining the rationality behind choices. This week, we targeted our abdominal muscles and triceps. Even though the work was tiresome, Malin was kind enough to allow me to slowly increase the intensity of the workouts. He brought me to the academy's junkyard where I used scrap metal and large wood pieces as weights.

We took brief breaks, where he'd share short stories about his naughty grandchildren back home. I deeply enjoy having Malin as my mentor. As nosy as he is, he has never once pushed for answers about my past. Not to mention that he respects my introverted behavior, so he trains me in a comfortable silence most of the time.

Period 2 → Endurance Training: Meeting Lex Laphayett was quite the surprise. As a whiskered young man who doesn't care much for formalities and quite careless, his detachment and apathy makes him contrast with myself, who cares a lot about how others view her. Lex is tall, muscular, with greasy strawberry blond hair tucked beneath a backwards cap. Despite himself being in peak physical condition, he looks rather sickly due to his pale complexion, dark shadows under his eyes, and sunken cheeks. Which seems to be the only traits we have in common. During this week he's worn nothing but sweaty, stained overalls, a hole-filled tank top, and steel-toe boots.

During Endurance Training, I've been practicing my running endurance—something I need much improving on according to Laphayett. But unlike Malin who was rather polite about my failures, Laphayett merely mocked me the whole time. He's quite rude, sarcastic, and sometimes alludes to the idea of threatening me. I'm convinced he's the worst parts of vexing Xeviero and cold Zadro mixed together. He wasn't at all as I expected, and I question why Banthikaar chose to place me under his tutelage.

Period 3 → Therapy: My designated"therapist"is Livian Sue—West's mentor. She seems like a nice lady. She's the only woman in the faculty, so she must be a great magiker, I have yet to ask her about that. So far, we have done some arts and crafts. It wasn't at all as I anticipated either. I thought Sue would've asked me questions and pried for answers. But all we've done is play games and paint. I have a sneaking suspicion that she'll start slowly asking questions next week.

Period 4 → Survival Skills: The fact that I'm stuck being trained by Laphayett twice a day is absolutely ludicrous. There were moments where Malin watched, but he never interfered with the Senior's lessons. If one could even call them lessons. When I told him I wasn't a strong swimmer, he burst out laughing and later nearly had me drown to prove it. Next week Laphayett is to teach me how to forage for food should I become stranded in any terrain. I'm sure he'll poison me if given the chance.

Period 5 → Magic Training: Due to some unknown developments, my magic training is to start next week. Although I am not quite sure what Laphayett nor Malin's magic is yet, I'm sure they're extremely powerful. I'm reluctant to practice my magic, but I'll worry about that next week. I'm the only one out of the rest that has 6 classes. I was told that it was because I was very much behind because I could hardly grasp my magic and wasn't quite in ideal physical condition. So to summarize what I was told: I'm a complete nuisance to the team if I don't work hard, not to mention that I'll never get my revenge on the Green Wizard. I need to become stronger. Faster. Powerfuller—I mean more powerful.

Period 6 → Poetry: Meyer selected us a recreational activity he thought would suit us. Although I don't recall telling the professor that I loved writing poetry. I've been working on three definition poems this week, but they are still in the revision stage. A definition poem is a prose poem in a definition format. But I decided to break two of mine into line breaks. I'll attach a copy of them in next week's report.
