Chapter 29

"I told you but you never listen!" Shadow growled annoyed as he put his white tuxedo on it was 7:42 they were only twelve minutes late, sonic didn't understand what the fuss was all about so he just rolled his eyes not even bothering to respond because if he did he would throw up, yeah shadow was too pissed off to even want to touch sonic even though they both needed too.

Sonic opened his briefcase it was the same thing as shadows just an opposite color scheme; he put on the black suit wrapping the gold watch around his wrist then slipped the black buck shoes on "okay I'm ready!" Sonic said shadow glanced over at him in fact sonic was not ready at least thats how it looked in his eyes

He sighed walking over to sonic to fix the cuffs of the others suit he had also put the tie on lopsided so shadow being the perfectionist he is fixed that too while looking for any other mistakes, once he didn't see any he moved to the face sonic had dried up drool on the side of his cheek shadow used his gloved hand and rubbed it off he stood back a bit to examine his work he nodded satisfied "now your done" shadow said "i was gonna fix that" sonic muttered a bit embarrassed "sure you were" sonic stuck his hands in his pockets "whatever lets just go-" sonic felt something solid in his pocket he pulled out the small thing it was a ring, it was gold just like his watch; the words "GUN track" were engraved on the inside.

"They really want to keep us in check huh?" Sonic showed shadow the ring earning a grunt in response "should i leave it?" Shadow shook his head digging into his own pocket to find a silver ring sliding it on his finger "its better if GUN knows were we are in case something goes wrong" shadow put the gold ring on sonic as well he looked at his watch it was already 7:45

Without hesitation shadow picked sonic up aware he couldn't run as fast without the rocket shoes

He kicked the door open and ran all the way to the mansion shadow slowed down as they got close to the gates putting sonic back on the ground making sure they both looked fine before walking in

The two were met with the mother of the home she looked very kind with her long luxurious brown hair and eyes "you two must be the detectives its so nice to finally meet you" she held out her hand which shadow took they shook hands for a few seconds before she led them to their main room were the party would be held it was a full room people were everywhere "hello madam are those the detectives?" They all looked towards the sound of the voice which came from the only other mobian in the whole room "ah Charles yes they had just arrived would you mind showing theses two gentleman around?" She said gesturing over to the hedgehogs"Not at all madam id be happy to" the albino badger named charles said

Charles smiled at shadow yet just glanced over at sonic which made sonic confused it seemed like the people here were ignoring him first no handshake now no smiles this was definitely new

Charles walked them through the rooms and all the halls they would need to know in order to get around safely "it really is so great to have you here the family has been so worried about this party going wrong" charles brought them back to the entrance it seemed like they had just circled around the place "well that was the full tour..." charles looked at shadow as if needing to say something which both hedgehogs noticed since charles didn't necessarily seem to hide it "whats wrong charles?" Sonic asked which charles ignored were it came from but still answered looking over to shadow "dont you think its somewhat inappropriate to be holding hands in public aren't you supposed to be Mobius hero?.."

Sonic looked down at their hands what was so wrong with holding hands?

Shadow completely understood the situation now he glared at the butler which charles became startled "though if you feel comfortable with it then it's not a problem" he said quickly then sent a glare at sonic as if it were his fault sonic still didn't understand what he did wrong

Charles brought them both back to the party leaving them to enjoy themselves which is were they met the daughter who had gotten married

"Hello good afternoon to you two detectives" the daughter said glancing over to their matching rings before reaching her hand out to shake shadows hand sonic seemed disappointed until the daughter reacher her hand out to sonic too which he happily shook.

"Good afternoon to you too Penelope and congratulations on the marriage" sonic said "thank you I'm very happy to finally be married to someone i love, but i am a bit nervous" she ran her hand through her brown hair "why are you nervous?" Sonic questioned "well id never been married before and i want everything to go perfectly, how did you two do it you make it look easy to be married" Penelope said "but we're not-.." shadow cut sonic off "we were nervous too but it didn't end up going badly" shadow glanced over at sonic "right. shadow?" Shadow glared at sonic which finally made him click 'oohh we're pretending' sonic thought "yeah I remember how nervous sonic was he was probably shaking" sonic snickered bumping shadow's shoulder

Shadow rolled his eyes but Penelope seemed to be buying it "do you really think everything will go fine..?" "Of course!" Sonic said proudly "as long as we are here we'll make sure that nothing goes wrong" sonic smiled and Penelope smiled back "shadow you really aren't as bad as everyone says you are I don't understand why people think that way of you" Penelope laughed Sonic glanced over at shadow who seemed a little offended at the compliment though other than that he didn't care "y-yeah I don't understand either? Im great once you get to know me!" Sonic huffed making Penelope laugh a bit more "hm" shadow hummed looking over at sonic then looking away gazing over at all the people 'six hours better go by quickly' shadow thought.
