I woke up when the sun had already risen; the carriage was moving towards the exit of the forest. I can already see the light from afar that signals the exit of the forest.
"Will, you're awake now, good morning." Chris greeted me.
"Yeah, good morning," I replied.
"Will, just take bread and beef jerky from the food supplies and have them for breakfast." Father said after hearing that I'm already awake.
"Okay," I replied.
After that, I take a single piece of bread and jerky for my breakfast. A while after that, we had already left the forest before lunchtime came.
"We already passed the forest; just wait an hour, and we'll reach Craud City next," father said.
"We'll also take our lunch there, so just wait for a bit," he added.
"Okay," I and Chris said at the same time.
As Father said, after an hour we already reach Craud City, the second biggest city in the crescent kingdom—of course the biggest is the capital. When we reach the gate, some guards inspect our carriage and talk to Father for a bit, but after that, they let us pass easily.
The houses here are of medieval style, made of wood and stones. The houses were next to each other, not like in our village, where the houses are separated from one another. There are also many people in the streets, which makes the city lively. But there's one thing that caught my attention, and it's the person who is walking with a dog's ear and tail on him.
"Father, is that beastkin?" I can't help but ask my father eagerly while pointing at that person.
"Yeah, that's a beastkin, but why did you suddenly ask me?" "Are you interested in them?" He asked and seemed surprised at my eagerness.
"No, it's just because it's the first time I've seen a beastkin in my life," I answered.
"Come to think of it, it's really the first time you saw it with your own eyes, so that's why." He said.
"Yeah," I replied.
After that, we continued to move forward, and after a while, Father stopped at the front of an inn.
"Wait for me here; I'll just put Pride and the carriage at the stable," he said, then let us go down the carriage.
After that, he led Pride and the carriage to the back of the inn. After a while, he returned, and the three of us entered the inn. The innkeeper greets us warmly, and Father proceeds to pay for our room for a night and the cost of Pride's lodging in the stable. After Father finished the procedure, he also ordered the innkeeper to prepare a lunch for us and deliver it to our room. Father should pay for two rooms, one for myself and Chris and one for him, because there's only room for two or one person.
After a while, the food came, and the three of us had lunch in mine and Chris' room. After we finished our lunch, Father gave us two silver coins and told us to go outside and enjoy the city because we're going to leave immediately tomorrow and will be stuck in the carriage again for four more days. Chris and I accepted it, and we immediately headed outside the inn.
"What should we do, Chris?" I asked Chris.
"Let's do some sightseeing first, then just do whatever we want to try when we see it." Chris answered.
"Okay," I replied.
After that, Chris and I walk through the streets of the city, trying to find something fun to do. While continuing our walk, we reach the city market. The market was so busy that it reminded me of the market in my old world. Chris and I decided to go there.
After entering the market, Chris and I tried some of the food that was being sold in the stalls.
There are so many stalls that our money ran out in an instant after trying almost all the food in the stalls.
"We should head to the inn now," I said.
"Yeah, let's go," Chris replied.
After that, we head towards the exit of the market. There are so many people now compared to earlier, so it's really crowded. Amidst the noises that the crowd made, Chris and I heard a crying voice. We immediately headed towards the voice and saw a young girl, maybe five years old, crying at the side of the road.
"Why are you crying?" Asked Chris.
"Because, because mama is not here," the girl replied while continuing to cry.
"Maybe she got separated from her mother because of the crowd," I said.
After I said that, Chris gave me a look that said we should help her. She's leaving the decision to me because we agreed earlier that we'd head to the inn now.
"It won't take us much time, so maybe we can help her find her mother." "Are you okay with that, Chris?" I asked as if I didn't notice the face that she made just now.
"Yeah, thank you, Will," she answered.
After that, we head once again inside the market. Chris and I decided to hold the girl's hands so the three of us wouldn't get separated.
I hold the left hand and Chris holds the right hand while we continue to search for the girl's mother. After a while, a woman came running towards us. We stopped walking to ask what she needed when suddenly the girl started running towards the woman.
"Mama!" The girl shouted.
"Rena!" The woman shouted at her before hugging her daughter.
After realizing that we're staring at them, the woman looks at us as if asking who we are.
"Who are you?" The mother asked
"Mama, this big sister and big brother are so nice that they helped me find you," Rena said.
"Oh, is that so?" "Sorry for my rudeness; thank you for helping my daughter," she said, then bowed her head.
"You don't need to bow your head; we just do what anyone would do at that time," I replied, panicking because she bowed her head.
After that, we said goodbye to them and finally headed towards the inn before it got dark. When we got to the inn, Father asked us if we enjoyed the city. Chris and I replied "yes" with a smile.
