The four of us finished eating and were about to head out to set the table for those who hadn't eaten yet when Chris reached out to me.

"Will! Are all of you done eating now?" She called out to me; behind her were Lana, Lucia, and Crestia.

It seems like there's no available table, so she's asking us if we're done eating so they can take this table.

"Yeah, we just finished," I answered.
"There's no vacant table now; just use our table; we're about to leave anyway," I added.

"Really? Thank you, Will!" She said with a relieved face, along with Lana and Lucia, although Crestia's face didn't change at all and remained the same ill-tempered face.

After hearing that Raiden, Tyiyn, and Tork stood up to take their seats, I followed suit and stood up too.

Noticing it, the girls take their seats. When all of them have taken their seats, it is now time for us to leave.

"Then we're leaving now," I said to the girls.

"Okay, thank you for the table!" Chris said.

"Yeah, thank you so much, Will," Lana added.

"That's right; thank you, Will," Lucia said.

"It's not really anything to thank me that much, though," I said while scratching the back of my head.

"Ah! Tork, thank you too, and you guys too." Chris also thanked Tork and the others—wait, Chris knew Tork?

I look at Tork after hearing that, and he seemingly knows what I am about to ask; he answers before I even ask him.

"Chris and I are in the same class," he said.

Oh, so that's it. I'm glad that there's someone who can look out for Chris when I'm not around, and it's one of my friends.

"Don't worry, Will; I don't plan on stealing your girlfriend," Tork said.

"Eh? You two are going out?" Lana asked in a surprised voice.

"Why didn't you tell us, Chris?" Lucia asked Chris.

"We're not going out; it's just a misunderstanding this guy created," I said, then pointed at Raiden.
"We're really just childhood friends, right, Chris?" I said, then asked Chris

"Idiot Will, do you really have to deny it that much?" Chris said, then started sulking.

Wait, did I say something wrong? Why are you sulking all of a sudden? We're childhood friends, aren't we? " I tried asking her, but she continued sulking and wouldn't answer me.

Does that mean she likes me? No, no, it's not that; she just doesn't know what the true meaning of going out is. She still thinks what Raiden said about going out is the truth.

"So? Aren't you guys leaving now? I can't eat properly because you're so noisy." Crestia interrupted us with a stern voice.

After that, all of us became quiet, and the one who broke the silence was Lucia.

"You don't have to be that harsh, Crestia," she said with a calm voice.

"That's right, they still gave us their table," Lana added.

"Tsk!" Crestia makes that sound, then continues eating.

"No, she's right; I'm really sorry for disturbing your time for eating. Then we're going to take our leave now; I'm really sorry," I said, and then the four of us left the cafeteria.

After ten minutes of just walking around, the bell finally rang, and we parted ways again with Tork, and the three of us headed to the training field.

We arrived at the training field, and it seems like we're the only ones here yet. Well, we arrived almost a minute or two after the bell rang, so it's not really surprising that we're the first ones here.

After twenty minutes or so, all of us are finally completed, and instructor Gord now explains what we would do. He mentioned something like stamina earlier, so maybe it's about that.

"All of you run 50 laps in this training field; that's all," he said.

Wait, what? 50 laps? In this huge training field? Is he joking?

"I'm not joking, and you need to finish it today. If you didn't finish today, tomorrow you need to finish 60 laps, but if you finished today, tomorrow you only need to finish 40 laps," instructor Gord said.

Wait, did he just read what's on my mind? And what's with that rule? I really need to finish it today, no matter what.

"Now stamina-building lessons start!" He said, and then all 16 of us started running.

****

I'm on my 32nd lap now, and I'm feeling fatigue now, but I can't stop because I don't want to run 60 laps tomorrow.

There are those who have already given up and have just resigned their fate to their future selves.

Out of 16 of us, there are seven remaining who are currently on their 32nd lap like me, including Tyiyn, Raiden, Beric, Nyrinn, Famir, and a red-haired boy whose name is Cirris.

I can clearly see that they are also exhausted but are forcing themselves to finish the 50 laps because it would become something we would regret if we didn't finish it when we're halfway through.

****

It was now my 49th lap, and there are only 3 of us remaining, including Tyiyn and Cirris.

I didn't expect that they would be able to make it, but Tyiyn really always does the unexpected.

The three of us, side by side, can now see the finish line; when we pass that, we don't need to suffer anymore.

Our body was about to give up, but we pushed it to its limit, and the three of us finished the 50 laps, but after that, the three of us collapsed from exhaustion.

In the end, the results of the first day of stamina-building lessons are:

Will, Tyiyn, and Cirris: 50 laps (passed)
Nyrinn: 43 laps
Raiden, Beric: 42 laps
Famir: 37 laps
Other students: 25 below laps

And that's how my first day of school comes to an end.
