CHAPTER 9

EDUVIE EFUA ARIETH

I stared at him dreamily. This was already the second week and yet we hadn't spoken. You know the invisible rule, never approach a guy first.

So I had waited all week  for him to come and talk to me but he didn't. He was surrounded by his numerous friends as they laughed loudly to whatever he said. I couldn't help but also notice Desmond

"Arieth be fast and do what you want to do and let's go back to class. Break will soon be over" Itohan said
Yes, I had come all the way from my class in the science area to the commercial area just to come and stare at Ayodeji Jaiyeola Levi.

My secret crush

Yup, and I happened to drag Itohan along with me lying that I wanted to collect a book I borrowed.

I had been crushing on Levi ever since SS1 when I first noticed him but the boy was just to sweet for someone not to like him. He was caring, kind and he treated everyone as equal.

He wasn't bad looking either infact he was one of the finest commercial boys and many girls were dying for his attention and I was unfortunately part of that category.

I didn't make it obvious though, infact no one knew about it. Not even Itohan. I had established a mutual friendship with Levi and so we were cool.

"Ooo Arieth have you not collected the book, oya let's go now. See I will leave you here oo" Itohan said and I could tell she was already getting angry

No one took studying as seriously as Itohan did, the girl was your typical book worm and her prefect grades were there to support her infact she was the best science student.

"Chill na, I'm coming" I said and we were already leaving when Levi called out
"Yo, Arieth whatsup"

So he noticed me

"Won't you come and greet me, since I've been waiting for you to greet me"
I could have sworn my heart picked up it pace as I turned around and slightly waved at him
"Hey" I said softly and he smiled
"We'll hang out later?"
"Yh" I replied
"I'll text you" and with that he faced his group of friends again like I wasn't there and I mentally rolled my eyes.

I walked out of the class with Itohan and went back to my class.

I entered my rowdy class and walked straight to my seat. Immediately Bola saw Itohan she left what she was doing and they started gisting.

My eyes scanned the class, as class captain it was my job to keep the class in other but I wasn't really in the mood. My eyes scanned the whole class, individual by individual,  clique by clique until it settled on Adesuwa and her clique.

Bola had already left them so it was just Sophia and Kaima. They were gisting about something but the Adesuwa girl didn't even look like she was interested. She looked like she was rather deep in thought. This girl sure liked zoning out

I also noticed that she looked tired, I was about to call her name when Mrs Amadi our chemistry teacher entered the class
"Settle down class, how are you Arieth?"
"Fine ma" I replied

Typical of the class captain to be every teacher's pet

The class began but my mind kept going back to the meeting I would have with Levi. Gosh! I can't wait for school to end.

The class was slightly boring but I didn't care because I didn't pay much attention to it honestly I preferred Physics to Chemistry.

After Chemistry we had four more subjects and two extra subjects before school was officially over

I walked over to the library making sure to make my steps slow. Number 2 invisible rule, never arrive before the guy. The library was where we always spent time together.

It was like our place. I greeted the librarian then I went to the back of the library where I knew he would be waiting but when I got there he wasn't there. I had to wait an extra one hour before he finally came.

"Oh Arieth you're here early" he said
"No it wasn't long that I arrived" I lied.
"Ok" he said and sat down beside me and I suddenly became self conscious. "I was just busy with my guy Desmond"
I nodded
"I missed you" he said and suddenly pulled me into a tight hug and it was like I was struck with lightening and then suddenly paralysed.

I couldn't even hug him back because my brain was still trying to process what happened and I was trying to calm  my raging heart in fear that he would hear it. Then he pulled away

"You did not even text me through out the holiday. I even thought  you were angry"

I didn't text you because you didn't text me. Number 3 invisible rule, never text a guy first

"Oh I was busy" I lied again
Busy staring at my phone waiting for you to text me
"You don't look like you're happy to see me" he suddenly said and I recovered from my shock
"No, I was just thinking" I replied

"About what, my pretty face" he said cockily and I rolled my eyes

Yes, your pretty face

"See this one oo, be dreaming" I replied and we both laughed and after that we started talking about our holidays and all and the nervousness I felt disappeared. Another reason I like him, he had the ability to make anyone feel at ease around him.

"Buh like I wonder who will get valedictorian of our set oo. Our set have plenty hot brains" he said
"Obviously it would be Itohan, that girl is too serious for my liking sef" I replied  and he just laughed then said
"It will shock you, she will not na get it"
"Abeg are you cursing for my baby or what?" I replied trying to sound serious but failed miserably.

"Everybody is sha your baby. Besides is there a rule that says someone can't overtake her" he said instead
"Whatever, sha leave my baby alone for me"
I said and he pouted in a cute way.
"I thought I'm your baby now" he said

Kill me

I laughed trying to cover up blush
"Baby kor, baby ni. Since when"
We began to pack as it was already getting late and the library would soon close and we walked out of school together.

"You're fun to hang out with" Levi suddenly said and I stopped, I think my heart did to "would you maybe like to hang out with me on Saturday"

Is Levi asking me out?

"Don't worry my guys will be there, you can bring you friends to so it won't look like a date. That would be weird"

Ouch!

"Okay I'll think about it" I said and waved at him then entered my car and my driver drove off

So much for couple goals
