CHAPTER 19

Surprise update!

We stopped by the junior block where she sent me to call Anike. I didn't want to go, that girl was unpredictable and we where in a building filled with juniors. I didn't want that little devil to disgrace me but it was not like I had a choice anyway.

My steps were slow and calm, any junior who saw me coming would immediately give way for me to pass, some even ran into their classes.

I wanted to smile and feel some sort of happiness because at least they respected me but with a racing heart and my mind which was going spiral with different thoughts, I couldn't.

I stopped in front of a class.

I got a glimpse of her, she was sitting at the back of the class alone, her head buried in a book. It seemed weird because everyone in the class had at least a partner to talk to.

Immediately I entered the class, the whole place became silent to the extent that if a pin should drop, the sound would be heard.

My stare remained on her, immediately she noticed her class go silent she looked up from the book she was reading.

She uses eye glasses.

The square shaped frame that sat on her nose made her look so weird. It didn't suite her personality at all.

Once her eyes met mine, she looked down back at her book like she was afraid to make eye contact with me. She looked so timid and shy and quiet but I wasn't going to deceived. This is the same girl who slapped me without showing any form of remorse for it.

Is this the facade she was putting up for her class mates.

I made a quick glance around the class, everyone was on their sit. I noticed a girl kneeling beside a boy sitting down pretending he was reading a book.

She was pushing him, the situation looked funny. I raised my eyebrow at her and she immediately looked down.

"Senior please tell him to stand up from my sit" the whole class looked like they were holding their laughter, the boy in question just looked like he didn't even hear anything and continued with his pretend reading.

I wanted to intervern but I remembered senior Mopelola who was probably wondering why I was taking so much time. The girl continued to push the boy while my eyes drifted back to Anike.

She was already staring at me

She looked down again so quickly that a smile broke out on my face.

She was scared.

I cleared my throat making the class go silent again and the girl stopped pushing the boy, she started eyeing him continuously that I was afraid her eyeballs would fall out. The boy continued his pretend reading.

I chuckled

"Anike" my voice was so calm that it surprised me "get up and follow me"

I left the class not even bothering to see if she followed me or not.

She did

Throughout she didn't speak, she just kept her head low. I felt some stares on my back as we walked down to the entrance of the building where I saw senior Mopelola tapping her foot on the floor repreatedly, looking impatient.

She looked up, her eyes meeting mine before drifted to Anike on my right, whose head was still bent low.

"Baby!" she spread her arms out as she awaited the a hug and Anike ran into it like she was actually running into her mother's arms. Immediately senior Mopelola engulfed her in a hug that looked to warm for a monster like her to give, Anike broke in tears.
