They gave us two choices. Either Leo and I sleeping in the living room together with me on the sofa and him on the floor, or either me in the guest room and him in the living room on the sofa. Of course we chose both of us in the living room. We didn't touch each other at all that night, we fell straight to sleep after a long day and a whole lot of heroine.

We woke up in the morning to Mother opening the curtains to their giant balcony. I rubbed my eyes, covering my head with my blanket.

"No, no. Don't you try and go back to sleep. Both of you, up. We're going to breakfast when Tom gets back and then you two are out." She snapped, trying to keep her composure in front of Leo as a guest, but not doing the best job.

"Where's Tom?" Leo rubbed his eyes.

"Wall Street." She snapped.

"Jeesh what's got her panties in a bunch?" Leo whispered.

I shrugged, shaking my head. She was the same old Mother I remembered. The money didn't change anything, only but her act in front of Tom to keep it.

"Wow." Leo pulled the blankets back over his head as well.

"No, no, no, you two get up now!" She shouted at Leo as if he was her own child too this time.

He sprung up in surprise, as did I.

"Hungover from your little drug binge? I'm gonna need some drugs by the time this is over. Oh I miss the eighties, it was a whole lot easier to get good coke and fast." She crossed her arms, staring at us.

"Pot." I said quickly, if she knew it was heroine I knew now that her game could get worse than just killing me on her own, but finally probably paying a call to Swifty to ruin the real life I was returning home to.

"Oh you think you're smart, don't you? I know what pot does, and it's nothing like you two looked like you were on yesterday. Get dressed." She snapped.

Tom met us at the restaurant. It was the nicest place I'd ever eaten, and the prices next to the dishes were outrageous, as Swifty would say if he were there. He'd say so even at McDonalds, though.

Tom took a seat, he was in his suit and had clean combed hair. His eyes sparkled and his smile was contageous. He kissed Mother on the cheek an patted my head before sitting down, "best day ever! Just like I thought, Steve Madden's stock shot right up!" He shouted, setting down his briefcase.

"Oh wonderful darling!" Mother's fake bubbly tone made me want to barf up all the drugs I'd consumed over the past few days.

"You know what that means?" He asked.

"What, a trip to Tiffany's?" She winked.

"Well, we did that last week, sweetheart. We're going to take Jessica here," He gestured toward me, "to get some new clothes after breakfast. Leo we'll get you something too,--"

"No thanks." Leo shook his head.

Mother got up from her seat bitterly, "I need to take a little trip to the ladies room."

"Did you think about what you want order yet? Let me see the menu." Tom asked as Leo passed him one.

Mother cleared her throat, looking at me, "you know a lady never goes to the restroom alone, now darling, accompany me."

I wasn't used to her tone or proper way of speaking. I sighed and stood up.

"Marilyn she doesn't have to go." He said calmly.
