They say it takes three months
to forget someone's touch
But it's been longer than that since I last saw you
And even worse I know I'll never get to see you
To hold you again
The last time I saw your face
Your eyes were closed
I could barely recall the exact hue of your blue eyes
Your skin was pale
And I knew
I would never have that kind of love again
Never have a person in my life
Quite like you
And I'm so sick of moving forward
When the last time you saw me I wasn't even 22
And now I sit here
At the cusp of 23
Wondering how to welcome another year
And new name
You never had to chance to know
You'd probably laugh
At all the dumb shot I've done
And you'd be shocked
By all the new things I've tried
All the people I have met
And the places I have gone
But when I pick up my phone
I have to remind myself
Not to type in your number
And when it's a family holiday
I'm reminded that it's yet another
Where you're far away
Florida was far enough
Why did you have to go
And move to heaven
Now I must wait a lifetime
Just for a chance to see you again
Siblings are supposed to be there for each other
till the very end
