In this story
The main character is just a side character
In everyone else's lives
She doesn't have many friends
And the few she has
Rarely make time for her
She spends many hours repeating back conversations in her head
Or preparing for future conversations
But if someone texts the rehearsals are usually
Not very helpful in providing her a response
She has so many interests
To fill the void in her head
When she talks it hard to connect or not talk over you
Because she feels like she is lost at sea
There is too much background noise
There aren't any obvious pauses in your speech
She isn't sure when to speak
Out of fear of interruption
Your anger and corruption
It's all too much
But so is being alone
It's too much silence
Too much idle sound
The lights are too bright
And she forgot to look at you
But she was listening
She is always listening
Even if she is fiddling
She means well
A heart of gold
But when it comes to complex emotions
It's a lot to unload
What is I told you she had autism
Undiagnosed till 22
And Adhd to add to it too
She is not the main character
She is a side character
But she does want to be included
In a neurotypical world
Often close minded
To her neurodivergent mind
