Indi was walking down the hall with her friends.
"Does anyone have plans after school?" Jeremy asked.
The four shook their heads.
"What do you have planned?" Indi asked him.
Jeremy shrugged. "I don't have anything yet I was just thinking we could hang out"
"Works for me"
Indi looked at the time and sighed. "Looks like class is going to start soon and if I'm late again I'm gonna get detention"
Summer nodded and kissed her cheek. "Okay see either between classes or lunch"

"Ginny, would you mind hanging back?"
Indi was gathering her books when she saw Ginny walking up to Mr. Gitten.

Mr. Gitten sighed and sat on his desk. "you've missed a lot of class, and you still haven't handed in your Grapes of Wrath essay"
"I know. I'll get it in. Is that all?" Ginny asked the man.
"No. I've been thinking about our conversation, and in spirit of diversity, I would like you to pick a book for the class to read, to add to the syllabus"
"A book?"
"Anything that captures the Black American experience. You interested?" Gitten asked the girl.
Indi rolled her eyes. If she could she would beat the shit out of that man, but she knew she would go to jail or juvie and she didn't want to because of stories she heard from people.
"Uh, yeah, maybe. I'll think about it"
"Good. I'm just trying to meet you halfway here"
"Are you" Indi mumbled and walked out of the classroom.

Indi was leaning against a tree at a park with her friends.
"You know I missed this," Jeremy said wrapping his arm around Indi taking a sip of his beer.
Indi nodded and smiled. "So did I"
Izzie looked at Indi. "So no more running away well at least without telling us"
"Yea no more running away without telling you guys" 
"And I will be coming with you next time," Summer said.
"Wouldn't your parents and brother miss you?" Indi asked.
"I mean yea but I would want to go with you," Summer said.
"I guess there is no stopping you is there?"
Summer shook her head. "Nope"
