-Syn's POV-
Krista smiled at me and started to walk back up the boardwalk, I walked after her but stumbled, twisting my ankle again. "Shit!" I shouted and Krista quickly caught me, staring at me concerned. She looked at my ankle and hissed, "We gotta find somewhere where you can rest. We don't wanna hurt that more." I rolled my eyes, "I'm good mom. Besides, there'll be more zombies soon. It'd be safer if we kept walking." Krista laughed, "Yeah, no. We're finding a place to rest." I sighed and then smiled, "Okay princess, but only if you don't mind me leaning on your shoulder the whole time."
Krista laughed, "Okay, fine. But only if you know where we're going. I'm completely lost" I sighed and then moved my axe to the other hand so I could grab Krista's shoulder. "I only know it well enough to find the nearest Burger King!" I said smiling.
She laughed and we started walking north towards the Burger King.-Lé Time Skip-
-Still Syn's POV-
When we reached the Burger King we were suprised to find it all boarded up. "Maybe it was someone's base?" Krista said walking inside cautiously. "Yeah. Maybe." I walked forward, stepping behind the counter.
"You look for food, I'll check the back. Maybe there will be some supplies." Krista nodded and went to another part of the kitchen. I walked towards the back, which was cut off from the rest of the building with old deepfryers and cabinets. It was as if someone had made a base in the back.
There were three doors in the back. A back door, which was nailed and locked shut, and two other doors which I assume are two storage rooms. I sighed and went for the one closest one to me.-??? POV-
I was in the storage room when I heard it. Two people walking inside carefully. "Maybe an old base?" one was saying. A girl. Maybe 14? She sounded nervous, or like she was holding back a lot of pain.
"Yeah. Maybe." said the other. Another girl. A group. This one sounded older, more mature. Maybe 21? 20? I'm not sure. But definetly around there. She sounded confident, strong even. Interesting.
The older one said something else I couldn't make out and walked towards The storage room I was hiding in.
My eyes widened and I waited until she was close before opening the door quickly.-Syn's POV-
"Shit!" I shouted as the door flew open a guy ran out. I jumped back and held up my axe, "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!" I shouted and swung my axe at him, missing by an inch. "WHO ARE YOU?" He shouted and held up a wooden bat. "AND CAN YOU NOT SWING THAT THING AT ME?!" he shouted. I swung again, giving him a small cut on his cheek. "I ASKED YOU FIRST, PUNKASS!" I shouted angrily.
"FUCK!" He shouted, holding his face with one hand and swinging his bat with the other. I grabbed his bat as he swung, pushing him away and causing him to fall over. "Shit!" he screamed at me and then kicked me in my bad ankle, taking me down with him.
"HOW DOES THAT FEEL, BITCH!" He shouted and locked me in the stomach. I slid on my side, hitting my head on one of the cabinets. I glared at him from across the room, and started to scramble towards my axe, which had dropped out of my hand.
"No way, bitch!" he said and grabbed me, pinning me against the ground. "JUST TELL ME YOUR GODDAMN NAME!" he shouted, "AND IF THERES ANYONE ELSE HERE, I'LL GIVE THEM A SLOW DEATH, JUST FOR YOU!" He said, slamming my arms down on the ground when I tried to punch him.
He'll kill Krista. I looked down. "Syn. My name's Syn." He sighed, "Thank you," he said, and loosened his grip on my arms. I took this advantage and pulled away, pushing him off me.
His head hit the ground with a thud, and I quickly pushed him against the ground. "What the hell are you-" I cut the annoying stranger off by punching him in the nose, feeling the bones snap under my knuckles.
"Sorry if I'm going to fast," I started, punching him in the stomach, "I'm not normally like this on the first date!" I punched him in the stomach again, causing him to start a coughing fit. "Yeah, well aren't you quite the lady," I smiled at him. "And aren't you a gentleman!" I punched him in the nose again, causing him to cry out in pain and blood to get all over my fist and his face.
Just then I heard Krista run into the back area. "Hey! I found the-" she looked around and saw the blood that was pouring from idiot's nose. "Oh my god. What happened?!" I turned to look at her and felt a lump rise in my throat as I remembered what the guy said, "Krista! Run!"
I felt pressure against my face and fell over, the other side of my face hitting the ground. He grabbed my face and pressed it sideways against the ground, making it face away from Krista. "So, you're the bitch I heard talking earlier?" He said, getting up slowly and grabbing his bat off the ground. I growled and he pressed my face harder against the ground with his shoe. "Uh... I don't... Please don't hurt her." Krista said quietly to him. Suddenly I was yanked up, the guy staring at me angrily. "Depends. From what she did to my nose, I only think it's fair to hurt her back..." He said and then looked over at Krista.
Krista looked from me to the guy nervously, tears in her eyes. "I-" she started, "Too slow!" the guy said, interrupting her and swinging his bat at me, full force.
I put my hand up to block, not even trying to grab it, but only to block it from hitting my face and to prevent it from giving me possible brain damage.
I felt pain spread through my hand when the bat hit me. I felt my fingers go backwards and sharp stings go throughout my arm. "Shit!" I shouted and then the bat swung back around, hitting me in the face and knocking me out.
