A slender door slid open as light seeped through the cracks of the darkness. Two shadows soon stepped forth with bags in hand. The flick of a switch emanated the room as red paint emerged on the walls. In the middle stood a table, a sofa, chairs lined up by the counter, and a small television. Paintings of the beach hung beside curtains covering the windows.

"Whew, I'm exhausted but we made it to our room. The guy at the front desk said this would be monthly rent so we just have to set aside some cash for then." Cheyanne huffed, she lowered her bags to the floor and opened a door to their right.

Lucy leaned over to spot a bed with two nightstands by it. "Lucky for us that we get to share the same bed, huh?" She chuckled.

Cheyanne playfully rolled her eyes. "Of course, that would come to your mind first! Why don't you get unpacked and I'll do the same, Lucy." Her legs bent down while she unzipped the largest bag and retrieved clothes. She drifted to the right of the room where a closet stood across from a sink.

"Sorry, I was tired of lugging stuff around for a while. Laying on that bed seems like a dream to me." Lucy's wings twitched as she emptied her bags. Clothes along with a toothbrush, hair dryer, movies, and bracelets covered the counter. With her eyes toward the fridge and microwave, her stomach grumbled. "Oh, I guess food is something we'll have to get too?"

Cheyanne soon faced her and smirked. "Thought of food before we even booked a room. While you were grabbing bags from the car, I asked for dinner in advance. They usually don't bring it to rooms but I tipped a guy."

The scent of chicken and steamed vegetables traveled throughout the air. On the table stood two plates full of food and two cups on the sides. Lucy quickly scrambled over to it and seated herself on the sofa while holding a pair of utensils.

"I'm so relieved, we don't have to worry about anything but relaxing from that long trip." She exhaled.

"It was quite the drive from home to San Antonio but I had to change colleges. Staying in a dorm without you would be super boring! And now we get to live together as a couple." Cheyanne plopped right beside her and grabbed a piece of chicken. She bit into one end and held the rest up to Lucy with a grin.

Lucy blushed and bit into the chicken. "B-But I wouldn't mind if it meant we got to stay close to Ralph. I know how much he means to you and-"

"Hey, I said it was okay before we left and he understands!" Cheyanne exclaimed. "Besides, my last college sucked ass. This one is way more tolerant to supernaturals and I won't have to worry about you coming up there." Her fingers pointed to the plates as she ate a chicken strip and forked at a stick of celery.

"Okay, just making sure. I've never been in an apartment before so this will be a new experience for the both of us." Lucy continued to eat her food until nothing remained. Once finished, she sipped from a cup and slightly shivered. "Oh, it tastes like alcohol!"

Cheyanne's eyes lit up and she chugged down her drink. "I'll need some before heading to college tomorrow. It'll be a bit chaotic trying to fit in a new place so soon but I can do it." Her hand slipped down to Lucy's lap as she held her hand gently.

"I forgot it was tomorrow, guess that means I'll have to stay here and wait for you?" Lucy asked. She squeezed down on Cheyanne's soft hand and frowned.

"Don't worry, most of my time there will be short so it won't be so bad! Now let's get your clothes hung up and we can lay down together while we watch a movie." Cheyanne stood from the sofa and gathered Lucy's belongings. After hanging up the clothes, she removed her jeans, shoes, and socks before entering the bedroom.

Lucy gulped, her wings folded while she removed both boots and her leather jeans. "Remember how I used to hate wearing bras? It felt so long ago when Earth seemed like a strange concept to me." She chuckled.
