Ralph lay in bed when a knock at the door alerted him. "Huh? Oh come inside, I'm just chilling in bed!" He yelled.
Cheyanne opened the door and hurried over to him. "Uncle! I missed seeing you so much, how are you feeling? Did our money cover all the medical bills?" She asked.
"Yes, they were all covered thanks to you. I'm also feeling much better since the accident." Ralph hugged her and rubbed Cheyanne's back. "Now where is Lucy at?"
"Right here with your special gift." Lucy soon waved to them and held a black cat in her arm. The cat meowed, while it scratched at its ears and yawned. "We spent a bit at the store trying to find a cat you would enjoy and settled on this little cutie."
Ralph grinned at the two. "You two didn't have to get me a pet! But thank you, the cat really is cute. What's their name?"
Cheyanne picked the cat up and set it on the bed. "She goes by Moonlight but you can call her something else. I also went ahead and bought cat food, a bowl, and some toys!"
"Moonlight, huh? It sounds like a good name for her." Ralph stroked the cat on the head and chuckled. "You girls did a lot for me and I can't thank you enough. Wish I could get you something in return."
"It's no sweat, I bet you've been bored as of late so having a cat would help with that." Lucy leaned against the wall and smirked.
Cheyanne held a thumb up to him. "You've been keeping up with us on the news lately?"
Ralph pointed to his television where the news was. "Just saw that you got ranked number one at the hero agency! It makes me proud to see you climb up in this world."
"And here we are with the weekly news, a presidential debate is coming this week after officials pinpointed the warning message a terror group sent last month." A reporter said.
They figured out who sent the message!? Lucy's eyes widened.
"Sounds like some good news, we should see about attending that debate. Vesper and Seleph would probably want us there." Cheyanne placed a hand on her neck and sighed.
Ralph gently scratched the cat's ears and leaned in his bed. "Well, I know you two are busy and have things to do. Just be sure to visit me soon whenever you can." He leaned over and kissed Cheyanne on the cheek.
Cheyanne's face reddened. "Aw, okay. I'm sure you need to rest more so we'll be back later!" She stood up from the bed and waved to Moonlight. "You be good Moonlight, this is your new home and owner."
"Yeah, we'll be back before you know it! Take care, Ralph." Lucy left the room as they left his house. The skeletal horse greeted them in the pasture and lowered its head.
"I have to stop by a store to gather some food for our room back at the agency. It shouldn't take too long so let's get to it!" Cheyanne hopped on the horse and slapped it on the rear.
Lucy jumped on before the horse galloped away. "Was it me or Ralph seemed eager to get us out? Not that he didn't want us there but it felt like it."
Cheyanne furrowed her brow. "I felt it too but it's okay. He just needs time to adjust with us not being there anymore. Hopefully, that cat will give him comfort and he'll be more happy the next time we meet." She stared up at the sky while the horse traveled closer to the town. Once they reached a grocery store, Lucy fell off the horse and landed on her butt.
"Ouch, that was a wild ride! What do we need from here?" Lucy asked.
"I need milk, bread, eggs, and a few other things. This shouldn't take me long so get off the ground, silly." Cheyanne grabbed her purse and strolled into the store. A shiver ran down her neck when several people stared at her. Most of them scowled before they glanced away or whispered to each other. "Welp, this place sure does have a welcoming presence."
