"I can't believe today went by so fast. School seems massive but at least the classes weren't so hard to get into." Cheyanne closed the car door and held a bag of food. "Bet Lucy will be glad to have something to eat after waiting all day." She snickered and entered the apartment complex. Once she reached the room, her shoes clacked against the carpet. The door shut before Cheyanne checked the bedroom.
Oh, she must be out right now. I'm sure Lucy wouldn't mind if I went ahead and ate my food. Cheyanne exhaled. After she set her bag and purse down, the food was laid out on the counter. Her eyes glanced over the fries, dipping sauce, and chicken while her stomach grumbled. The phone in her pocket vibrated when she checked it. A notification caught her eyes and she swiped it up.
"Hello, this is Cheyanne?" She said.
Ralph's hoarse voice picked up on the other line. "C-Chey, you there? Your uncle needs to hear your voice..." He wheezed.
Cheyanne squeezed the phone as her heart raced. "Uncle, are you okay? Please tell me everything is alright! I'll pack my bags and grab Lucy if it's serious."
"N-No, you just got to that apartment and I don't want you to miss school. I was robbed by a supernatural at the grocery store but thankfully he didn't kill me." Ralph lightly chuckled. "Broke a few ribs and they stuffed me in this hospital bed but I'll live."
"Oh, Ralph. I feel awful and it was the day after we left." Cheyanne placed a hand on her head and leaned forward. "Why did they hurt you? Do they not know what kind of trouble that brings with us being related."
Ralph coughed in the background before holding the phone to his ear. "I don't know sweetie but please don't be too hard on yourself. My bandmates are coming to visit so I won't be lonely and I'll keep you updated." He winced while rubbing his chest.
Cheyanne wiped a tear away. "A-Alright, uncle. I'll call every day and make sure your bills don't pile up too much now. I don't mind making Lucy get a job while I stay at school." She swallowed and held back tears. Her voice trembled while she took a deep breath and stood up. "I love you so much and wish you recover super fast!"
"Thanks, dear. Tell Lucy I said hi and hopefully I'll see you soon." Ralph soon hung up.
"Ugh, I thought school was going to be stressful but this hits harder than anything." Cheyanne covered her face and groaned. "And where is Lucy at? I can't eat when feeling like this!" She stood up from the chair when her phone fell to the floor. A web page opened on it as she bent to it. Her eyes adjusted to the text while reading through it. "Hey, this is the club they were talking about earlier. Maybe I should give the president of this club a call."
With a quick dial, the phone rang until a male voice picked up. "Hello, this is the club for supernaturals at UOTSA. What can I do for you?" He asked.
"Uh yes, this is Cheyanne Calentine and I'm a new student at the University. I called to ask if I can apply as a hero?" Cheyanne seated herself on the edge of the bed and faced the ceiling.
"Wait, I was told of you earlier at a meeting! I go by Range and would love to have you join the club." He said with a grin. "We often do community work and help cops when a threat arises which is common in a big city like this."
Cheyanne crossed her legs. "Then yes, I want to join and be a hero! Innocent people shouldn't have to suffer from criminals doing evil crimes." She clenched her jaw and grabbed at the covers.
Range typed on a computer and tapped his foot on the floor. "Right, that's why we formed this club to help those in need. Uh, this is random but would Lucy be interested in joining? We'd be honored to have both of you part of our club."
