In the stillness of the night
Unbeknownst to the gods of might,
From Olympus' hearth the guarded flame
Did Prometheus steal, not for his fame.
An eruption of fire from that tiny spark
To save the world from the gathering dark!
Alas, the Powers' ire did he bestir
A punishment unbefitting and severe,
But not a whit or second did he regret
This mischief the gods will ne'er forget!
