Melody
After spending time with Marla, Julia, and Maddie, which I learned during our conversation, I headed home to freshen up. I kept my look simple, opting for minimal makeup. Mom always said less is better. I agreed.
D arrived and greeted my parents. We left the house and headed to the movie theater.
I read through the movie titles until I found one.
"Did you find a movie?" D asked me.
"Yes." I smiled.
"Well, okay." D smiled and paid for our tickets and concessions.
We entered a theater and found a seat before settling in.
"Thank you for tonight," I said.
"Thank you for joining me." D smiled even brighter.
My cheeks hurt from all the smiling I was doing.
Eventually, the lights dimmed to darkness as previews played. Once the movie started, we shared the popcorn while drinking from separate pop containers. I had a fountain beverage while D had a bottle.
The movie was decent without the sex and gore. I'm not a fan of those types of movies. I prefer something innocent. Call me weird, but that's what I preferred.
After the movie finished, we tossed our trash into a bin and left.
"Are you hungry?" D asked me.
"I could go for something small." I nodded.
"Let's go." D slipped his hand into mine and led me to the car.

DemarcoMel surprised me with her movie choice. Most girls enjoy a romantic comedy. She picked a movie about animals. I didn't mind since it made the date go much better.
I pulled into the Eatery's parking lot, got out, and opened Mel's door. Most girls would open their own doors. But my folks raised me to be a gentleman.
I slipped my hand into Mel's and walked with her into the restaurant. The hostess seated us at a table and handed us menus.
After a few minutes, Lucas approached our table, took our orders, and left.
"You surprised me tonight," I said.
"In what way?"
"With your movie choice. I figured you would opt for a romantic comedy."
"Romantic comedies are okay. I prefer a cute movie without all the sex and violence."
"Romantic comedies don't strike me as violent."
"No, but most have sex in them."
I had to agree with Mel. Most romantic comedies did have sex in them. It was refreshing to meet someone who had the same beliefs as you.
"So, I was thinking," I said.
Lucas returned with our drinks. He placed a glass in front of Mel and a bottle in front of me. I nodded thanks. Lucas nodded back before leaving.
"You were saying?" Mel asked.
"I don't want to appear presumptuous. Would you be my girlfriend?"
Mel's brows lifted in surprise. "You want me to be your girlfriend?"
"Isn't that what asking to be my girlfriend means?"
"Well, yes."
"Then I'm asking. Are you accepting?"
