Demarco

I knocked on the front door as Kyler fumbled with a box of goodies. "Will you be careful?"

"Hey, it's not my fault you stuffed a box to the rim. What do you have in here, anyway?"

"Everything we need for tonight."

"Who is it?" A sweet voice asked.

"Your Latino darkness," I answered.

The door opened, and Mel smiled at me. "You may enter. The others are in the kitchen."

We entered the house, and Kyler almost dropped the box.

"Will you watch it?" I asked.

"Then you carry the damn box." Kyler thrust the box at me before stomping away.

Rachel giggled. "Ignore my huffy boyfriend."

"Don't worry. I will," I said.

Mel giggled and closed the door. I carried the box into the kitchen and set it on the counter. Odin, Sofie, Jordin, Mercedes, Oliver, and Conner were sitting around the table with a deck of cards.

"No one said I would hang out with my dads tonight," Jordin said.

"Why? Are you afraid we'll learn about your sins?" Oliver asked.

Jordin rolled his eyes. "Mercedes keeps me from sinning."

"Yeah, I don't want to know. I'll pretend you're that sweet little boy before you become the devil incarnate." Oliver shuffled the cards while I passed out pops to everyone.

Mel grabbed plastic bowls and dumped chips into them before placing them on the table.

"Where's your folks?" I asked.

"My parents are hanging out with your parents."

"Since when?"

"Since our mothers are planning our wedding. Our dads are trying to keep them in line."

"What wedding?"

"The one they've been planning since I was ten."

"Lord, help me from our mothers."

Mel laughed.

We joined the others at the table.

"So, we're heading to Myrtle Beach during your brothers' spring break," Oliver told Odin and Jordin.

"Okay," Odin said.

"You're joining us."

"Say what?" Odin and Jordin asked.

"Your grandparents are treating the family to Myrtle Beach since Casper and Liam are graduating this spring. Your dad and mom are coming, too," Oliver told Odin.

"What about the construction business?" Odin asked.

"Elias and Owen figure everyone needs a break. I agreed. Demarco and Melody can watch the chapel for me while we're gone." Oliver winked at Mel and me.

"I wouldn't mind spending time at the chapel with my girl." I shrugged.

"What about us?" Sofie gestured between her and Mercedes.

"Oh, you're coming, too. If I have to suffer, so do you," Odin said.

"How is spending time at the beach considered suffering?"

"Wait until you spend a week with Liam and Casper."

Sofie's brows pinched her brows together in confusion.
