I was working on the reno when my phone dinged. I checked my messages to find one from an unknown number and opened it.

Install the application and follow the instructions. - Unknown number.

I clicked the link as an application loaded on my phone and followed the prompts. Then my phone pinged with an alert. I clicked on it.

Dylan is ready for use.

What the hell?

Jordin approached me. "Odin, did you get a weird ass message?" He waved his phone at me.

"Yeah, I did. Why? Did you get one?"

"Yeah."

Demarco approached us with his phone in his hand. "Why am I getting a weird text message from someone?"

"When did you get back?" Jordin asked.

"Today. Elias and Owen said I could work for a few hours."

"What about Melody?" I asked.

"Mel is spending the day with Kyler at the center."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Jordin asked.

"I doubt the kids will hurt Mel. Plus, Rachel, Jorge, and Mercedes will be there."

Jordin and Demarco went back and forth while my phone rang with Grandpa JJ's name flashing across the screen.

"Hello?"

Odin, did you receive the message?

"Yeah, I did."

Did you install it?

"Yeah. Why?"

It's an alert for your phone. If there's any trouble, you press it. Understand?

"Yeah."

But only press it if there is a problem.

"How many of us received this?"

Everyone in the family and their significant others. Sage will explain to the others about the alert.

I released a low whistle. That was a lot of people.

Your dad will explain to everyone what it means. Then you can follow suit.

"Okay."

Grandpa ended the call.

Within a few minutes, Dad gathered everyone to explain the alert. Jordin and I understood. The others, not so much.

"What kind of shit is your family into?" Elias asked Dad.

"You don't want to know," Dad said.

"Great."

"Look, my mom's side understands not everyone has honorable intentions. Luckily, my mom explained everything to Oliver and me. Grandpa JJ kept that life far away from us."

"Does it look like it was kept far away from you? Because it seems to me like it's biting us in the ass."

Dad rolled his eyes at Elias.

Yep, today would be interesting with Dad and Elias going at it over this alert.
