Present day, Amelia's pov

As I'm trying to rest, I keep hearing the noises those things are making outside. It's annoying and creepy. It's hard to sleep through that. I sit up and look around the house. At least the blinds are closed. I made sure to lock the door too so as long as we're quiet, we should be fine. I don't know what Gura is doing though. She might be sleeping on the bed. I have no doubt that this is hard for her and this house probably brings back memories that make her both happy and sad. I sigh.

After a few hours of laying here and barely getting any sleep, I sit up. I think it stopped raining. Perfect. While we're here we'll get some good. She has to have had a backpack or something around here to carry stuff. I go up to her room. As I thought, Gura is sleeping on her bed. I look in her closet. There's a backpack, as I thought. I go downstairs and into the kitchen. I'm not even gonna bother checking in the fridge. Everything is probably rotten in there. I look in the pantry. There's a lot of cans, and by the looks of it, they're still good. I start putting cans into the backpack. I move some stuff around and find water bottles. I put them into the backpack as well. I wonder why she didn't take any of this. She might've been in a hurry to leave the house. I close the backpack.

I should probably get some actual sleep before we leave. I go back to the living room and lay back down on the couch, finally I pass out. I wake up hours later. Everything is still the same. I thought I would wake up to a zombie or something. I get up. I go upstairs. Gura is still asleep on the bed. I grab the journal then walk to Gura.

Amelia: Gura wake up, it's time to leave.

I shake her. She wakes up.

Gura: Okay

She yawns and gets up.

Gura: Where to first?

I get out the map.

Amelia: It says the nearest piece is somewhere called orange village.

Gura: Orange village?!

Amelia: Yeah.

Gura: That's bad. Really bad.

Amelia: Why?

Gura: Well, see, after the whole apocalypse started, a lot of people formed factions. There were a lot but over time, many factions fell. Today there are 4. They're named after animals too. There's the lions, wolves, snakes and bears. Orange village is home to the lions. We've had encounters with them before, they're not good people. They don't hesitate to kill even their own people and just like real lions, if you don't carry your weight, you'll get left behind. They show no mercy.

Amelia: Well it says it's there so we have to go there. Do they accept new members?

Gura: Yeah but you'll have to prove you're useful.

Amelia: No problem. I'm sure I can find something to do while we look for it.

Gura: Okay, but I'm just saying, it's not a good idea to mess with them. They hold public executions.

Amelia: I don't plan for us to stay long. We'll go in there, do what we need to, find the watch piece, then sneak out. I'm assuming they don't just let people leave.
