11 - Hunting and hunted

Once we enter the forest, Irys leads us to a river running through it. I guess it's the same river that me and Gura washed our clothes in. It's pretty big and this part of it looks like it goes deep.

Amelia: Don't fall in.

Gura: I won't.

She takes off her shoes and steps into the water. She shivers.

Gura: Cold.

I look at Irys.

Amelia: So, if we found the watch piece we're looking for, what's stopping us from just leaving right now?

Irys: The lions would hunt you down and not stop until they find you and either kill you or, if you're valuable enough, force you to come back.

Amelia: I see.

I take the map out of my pocket and look at it. I examine it.

Amelia: I guess past this forest is the countryside huh. If we have to escape, we'll go through here and hide in the trees and once we're in the clear, we'll go to the countryside and make plans for the next piece.

Irys: Sounds good.

I look at Gura, she already caught three fish.

Irys: Anyway, you should start hunting. Enzo won't be very happy if you come back empty handed.

Amelia: I want to punch him in his stupid face.

Irys: Me too.

Gura: Me three.

I load the crossbow and walk off, making sure to not go too far. I hunt for about an hour, only managing to catch a bird. I decide to see how the others are doing and I walk back to Irys and Gura. Gura caught a lot of fish and Irys is keeping watch for zombies.

Amelia: This sucks. I'm bad at hunting.

Irys: Yeah you said you were good at sniping, not hunting. Enzo isn't very smart.

I sit next to the river.

Amelia: Well I caught a bird. He can't be mad now. He shouldn't be mad anyway because I never said I was good at hunting.

I watch Gura catch fish. It's peaceful here. I wonder if it's peaceful where my friends are. They're probably worrying about me. I wonder what they're doing.

Gura: Hey Ame?

Amelia: Yeah?

Gura: What are your friends like?

Amelia: Well, they're a lot like you guys. Kiara is always very kind and helpful, Calli was cool and had leadership skills, Ina was very calm and collected all the time, and Gura was very fun and energetic. I can tell you're like that too. You just can't show it much because of the circumstances.

Gura: Yeah. What's your world like? What's the history of it?

Amelia: Well, history is full of interesting events, though they're not always good. Have you guys had a war called world War 2?
