Wednesday sat quietly at her desk, a clicking sound filling the room. She was writing a new story. From across the room Enid layed quietly with her thoughts...and the sound of keys clicking. It was an exhausting sound, everyday; click, click, click, click, 'one more minute Enid' over and over again. She was exhausted, she was bored, and most of all she was upset.
"Wednesday" Enid said softly from her bed.
The raven girl stopped typing at the mention of her name, let alone the mention of it from Enid. Enid never used Wednesday, always Wen, Wennie, Willow, and sometimes to piss her off, Willy or Willy Wonka. Wednesday turned in her chair, blank face staring at Enid.
"Do you still love me" The bright colored girl asked.
The question made the goth pause completely, her breathing delayed and slowed. For a moment she couldn't speak. "What." She said, hiding her concern.
"Do you still love me" She repeated.
"Yes." Wednesday replied. "I love you, I always will, till my grave is dug and beyond." She said calmly.
Wednesday had forced herself to learn better ways of talking to Enid, better words for communication and more. She was trying, but only for her. The way she talked only changed for Enid.
A small smile appeared on Enid's lips. "Thank you." She said softly.
"Why do you ask?" The goth questioned.
Enid took a deep breath. "I don't want to bother you with that" she said.
Wednesday pursed her lips. She wasn't good with big conversations, nor big emotions. But Enid needed something, she had to. "Talk to me" she said, just loud enough for the bright girl to hear.
Enid sat up slightly and took a deep breath. "I don't feel like you care, nor love me anymore" she began. With a small pause the bright girl continued, "I mean, I know you do, at least I hope so. It's just you've been only paying attention to your writing, clicking away for hours always telling me 'one more minute Enid' but the minute never ends." She finished with a small sigh.
Wednesday stared at the girl sitting across the room. She hadn't realized how much she had actually done that. "Is there anything else?" She asked quietly.
Enid bit her lip slightly. "When you aren't writing you don't ever want to do anything with me. I feel ignored and forgotten almost. I guess all I want is your attention and time but I don't get that often." She said softly.
The goth nodded, showing that she was in fact listening. For a moment she just sat in her chair staring down at the floor thinking. Two words she never uses were about to leave her mouth. "I'm sorry." She said.
The bright girl perked up slightly. "I still love you. If perhaps, there's something you'd like to do now well I'm no longer paying attention to my writing, tell me" the goth one said calmly.
"Two truths, one lie" she said happily, just about bouncing off her bed.
"What?" Wednesday asked.
"Two truths, one lie. Have you never played it before Wen?" Enid asked, a confused look on her face.
Wednesday stood from her chair and shook her head. "No, I'm afraid not." She stated.
"Okay then.. Well I'll explain it!" Enid beamed.
Wednesday nodded slightly and walked to Enids side of the room, bright, colorful, happy, the complete opposite of hers, the girls side was not her favorite thing to look at or be around but she had gotten used to it. Enid slightly hovered her hands over Wednesdays shoulders, a signal to sit down without touching her.
Wednesday sat down and Enid began talking. "Okay, so basically the entire point of the game is in the name, two truths, one lie. Uh, you tell someone 3 things about yourself, something you did, ect and only 2 of them can be true, one has to be a lie and the other person has to guess which one of the 3 things was a lie!!" She explained. Enid talked fast sometimes making it hard to understand.
Wednesday nodded. "You first. I'll guess." She said.
"Okay!!" Enid said happily. "One, I like cotton candy. Two, I write fan fiction. Three, I'm not scared of being alone in the dark" she finished with a smile.
Wednesday thought about it for a moment. "Three" she said.
"What? 3's the lie?" She asked.
Wednesday nodded. Enid squealed in joy. "You did it!!" She said happily.
Wednesday almost smiled a bit before listing off her three things and letting Enid guess. This game went on for about 5 more minutes as they learned new stuff about each other. Enid felt better, Wednesday knew what to fix, and they both seemed happier.
