Wednesday kneeled silently by a tree, a dagger hanging from her finger. The Raven couldn’t see past the thick fog hiding the other contestant. Her breath was staggered, her legs weak from running, her knees bruised from her falls. The girl could feel her eyes blurring, her grip tightening on the small blade.

A snap.

Her head whipped around, eyes darting between the trees.

“Wednesday?” A small voice called from behind a tree.

The Raven swallowed thickly, she recognized the voice, her beloved girlfriend. A sinking feeling set into her being, she hadn’t seen Enid since the beginning of the game.

‘Should I respond..?’

‘No, a dumb white girl in a horror movie would do that.’

The Raven took a deep breath, shifting her bare feet across the ground. A sharp pain shot through her barefoot and her head shot down to see what it was, her teeth burying into her bottom lip.

A spiky fern was stuck to the bottom of her foot, “Fucking- Mh-!” She swore under her breath and moved her foot away as quietly as she could.

“Nes, I’m scared-” Enid’s voice rang out in a hushed tone.

‘Fuck.’

Wednesday’s feet shifted away from the tree, her body moving with them. Another snap rang out behind her. Her head turned back to look in the direction, no longer facing in Enid’s direction.

There they were, a taller girl, standing with a gun pointed at the Raven’s face. “Wednesday.” They said lowly.

Wednesday met the girl’s gaze, watching as the taller girl cocked the gun back and placed the cold metal to the darker girl’s forehead. She knew not to make any sudden movements, how was she going to get out of this situation? This wasn’t supposed to happen.

“Last two, perchance?” She said with a low laugh.

“You can’t just say perchance you fucking idiot.” Wednesday mumbled.

Light footsteps came out from a tree behind them, Enid.

“Oh you- Shut the fuck up!” She hissed, shooting a bullet into the ground.

The loud sound rang out into the forest, causing the crows and wildlife to scatter, a yelp coming from the hidden girl in the fog. “I have a gun and you’re going to catch that tone with me?!” She yelled.

Wednesday felt a pop in her ear, a thick metallic smelling liquid slowly running out of her ear closest to the gun.

The tall girl quickly put the gun back to the girl's head, her finger hovering over the trigger. Wednesday kept her gaze locked on the others eye’s.

“Wednesday? Are you oka-”

The Wolf stopped right behind the Raven, her eyes going wide. Her hand covered a rather deep wound, a slash right under her elbow; blood was flowing down her arm, her vision becoming blurry from the blood loss.

Without another word, the Wolf felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, a loud noise ricocheting through the woods again.

Wednesday’s eyes shut for a moment, waiting for the quick pain and quick death. When nothing came and she realized the cold barrel was no longer pressed to her forehead she quickly whipped around, a strong smell of blood.

“Nes-” Enid’s eyes welled with tears, a horrific pain consuming her.

Wednesday's eyes shot down to the girl's abdomen, watching as a dark splotch seeped through her shirt.

She felt a pit form in her throat as she gripped the dagger and lunged for the girl holding the gun. A loud guttural scream came out of the girl's throat. The Raven’s dagger sunk into the taller one’s abdomen, slicing through the layers of her skin. Horrific screams rung out through the forest as the blade jabbed in and out of her flesh, blood squelching and pouring out of her body.
“How’s it feel?” Wednesday’s voice, filled with her own type of glee, asked with a raised brow.

When no answer came Wednesday dug the blade deeper into the other girl's mid section, watching as the blade sliced down her skin. “Hm?!” She paused, “Answer me!” She said, bringing the blade back up, watching as the “poor” girl's intestines spilled out of the large open wound down her body.

It didn’t take long for the life to leave the girl’s body. Wednesday stood up, leaving the blade dug into her skin. With a quick motion she spun around and quickly made her way to her girlfriend.

“Enid, look at me.” She said, holding her face by the chin. “Please.” She added through a whisper.

“I can’t lose you. You made it all this way.” She whispered, holding her hand over the wound in the girl's stomach.

Enid smiled through blood that covered her teeth. “I did- and now you can-” She took a staggered breath before continuing, coughing up some blood. “Now you can win” blood seeped from the corner of her mouth, an uncomfortable feeling masked by the pain in her stomach.

“I hate you.” She mumbled, tears dripping down her face with the little energy she had.

“I hate you too Sinclair.” Wednesday mumbled. She felt warm tears prick at her eyes, the lump in her throat growing bigger as she felt the life slowly leave the bloody girl's body.

“I hate you too..-” She said again, her voice cracking.

She felt her lip quiver, the sirens going off that the game was finally over, her name being called over the speakers as the winner. Though, she was the only one to hear it. She had vouched to protect the blonde girl through thick and thin, even if it cost her life, but now they were here – roles reversed.

“I’m so sorry” She hadn’t cried since her scorpion died. Now, two things she had once loved dearly had died infront of her and there was nothing she could do to change it. She never really apologized, not to her brother’s, nor to her family, she never even thought of the idea of apologizing, she could never be wrong. But now, here she was, wrong. Wrong with no way to undo it.
