A pack of dragons among the fairies

Chapter 12

Gajeel looked at the furious dragon slayer in front of him. The ground was melting under his feet and his friends seemed to be frozen in fear. Obviously, they never saw a dragon's anger because Gajeel remembered Metallicanna to be worse than his current enemy.

Lucy ran to the dragon's slayer's arms and just like that the heat and burning sensation that Salamander was producing evaporated. He took the blond wizard in his arms and hugged her as tight as possible.

"Natsu you need to calm down. Gajeel didn't do anything to us. It's not his fault." Lucy said trying to ease the situation.

She never saw Natsu like this and even if she wasn't scared of him she had to admit he didn't look like himself anymore. For a moment she thought he calmed down for good and that there will be no fight but after putting her away from where they were standing his magic started acting up all over the room again.

"Stay here Luce I got this"

"Natsu no! You're making a mistake! Listen to me!"

All of the young constellationist callings were in vain, the fire dragon simply didn't listen. He was seeing it again. The destroyed guild, Jet and Droy hurted and crucified on a tree, Makarov hurted and sick in a bed, and worse of all kidnapping of Lucy.

The dragon slayer could still remember the empty guild hall with the mark of Phantom Lord on the walls. He will never forgive that. This bastard hurted his family and destroyed his territory. He will pay for this.

"Juvia I think it would be better if you go away from here it won't be pretty. Go ahead and find the little fairy." Gajeel said growling at the other dragon.

"But Gajeel! He will hu-"

"Just go! I have some things to deal with this punk."

Unwillingly Juvia and Grey left the room to look after Levy that was still imprisoned in Phantom Lords's HQ. Gajeel and Natsu were growling at each other with their fangs and claws out, ready to jump on the other at any second.

Gajeel had no intention to fight with Salamander in the first place but when he smell his friend's blood on the dragon slayer he saw red. The Fairy Tail wizard hurted Totomaru and Gajeel wasn't going to let it pass.

Totomaru and he didn't meet when they were kids like Juvia. The fire wizard came to Phantom Lord when Gajeel and Juvia were sixteen years old and he refused to follow the other's path.
The dragon slayer stopped counting the time when he saved his life and Juvia's. It was always the three of them on missions and when Jose was violent Totomaru always tried to stop him and protect them.

Imagining his friend that helped him as many times as he could, hurt in a room of the guild and alone made Gajeel more furious than ever. He was going to destroy that stupid Salamander.

The tension between the two dragon slayer could be felt in the room, their magic was melting into the air without any attack. The tense atmosphere and amount of magic made Lucy and Happy freeze, none of them could even move between those two furious dragons. The constellationist gulped, she never saw Natsu like that. Gajeel and he looked like two ferocious beasts ready to kill their opponent.

Then it became clear to her, Natsu was acting on pure instinct, and that was why he didn't even listen to her. He was protecting his family and territory as any dragon would.

The first to move was Gajeel, one of his arms became a huge pillar of iron and struck Natsu's stomach until a loud cracking sound resonated into the room. Lucy winced when she heard it and tried to stop the fight again. Sadly none of the dragon slayers listened to her.

Natsu was quick to hit back and soon Gajeel was surrounded by a violent fire that was melting the rock under the two wizards.

"You hurt my friends and kept Lucy as your prisoner. I won't forgive you that scrap-iron bastard!"
