For the last few days, Laxus stayed at the guild to help them rebuild the building. It has been entirely destroyed so there was a lot of work. Usually, he was really bad with manual activities but knocking up one thing or two was realizable.

Natsu went away with Lucy, Happy, Grey, and Erza. He didn't know why but he seemed pretty impatient to go, maybe some vacation. He knew Erza thought about taking a few days to rest after Phantom Lord's battle.

It was weird to be at the guild with no Natsu in sight, deep down something in him was bothered by the fact. Natsu was out of his sight and knowing him he would get into trouble. Fortunately, Lucy was with him, and thanks to that Laxus felt he could relax. She would keep Natsu out of trouble.

Comforting himself with the thought Natsu and the thunder tribe will be there in a few days Laxus was about to go out for a bit. Even if Natsu and Grey weren't here the guild was still noisy and the arrival of the two new members was probably the main reason.

He only saw one of them, a woman with water magic dressed all in blue. She didn't seem bad, but rather nervous. He didn't miss the way she flinched when people approached her by surprise. So that was what his old man meant when he said Jose was a bad master. Pathetic.

Laxus kept looking at the water woman from afar, he could see small bruises and smell Polyussica's medicine on her. The two ex Phantom must have been there for the last few days if the smell was so attached to this girl. He will be nice to them but at the first sign of harm from them on his comrade and they would be dead meat.

Now he just needed to get away from this girl, Juvia if he remembered well. He could smell the dragon that hurted Natsu on her and it was driving him crazy. He just wanted to go there and get that horrid smell off her. Which was crazy and weird, he wouldn't do that. He refused to. No way he would go there and hug her until the smell disappeared as he did with Natsu. Stupid dragon's instinct!

A bit embarrassed he went out a bit, maybe some fresh air would help him to calm down. Since the attack, the scales didn't leave his body. Natsu managed to get the majority of it away but his chest was still covered in gold dragon scales. The fire wizard told him they usually stayed longer on the chest because it was where the main organs of his body were. His magic was trying to keep him safe.

Dragon slayer's magic was really something. Laxus didn't know any other magic that kept their user safe nor changed their body and mind to this point. He remembered his first days as a slayer like it was yesterday. Everything was too much and he hated being with other people. Makarov told him he was like constantly searching for someone too but that he didn't even know the name of this person. Apparently, something was missing and he was searching for it. The missing sensation stayed until Natsu arrived so he probably only needed the company of someone like him.

A strong smell of iron and rust came to the lightning slayer's nose after a few minutes of walks. It was as strong as Natsu's smell and Laxus's instincts didn't need anymore to go wild. He knew that smell. It was the one he smelled on the water woman and Natsu. It was the dragon that attacked his pack, family, and territory.

Without any warning, a strong and loud growl got out of the slayer's mouth. It was harder and harder to think about something else than following the scent and destroying the dragon that dared to come back to his territory.

As he was walking he could hear several voices. There were three of them but he could smell four scents. When he got there he saw Jett and Droy fighting with the dragon slayer, Levy was trying to stop them. It wasn't their job. He was the one who should do this, it was his territory.

A distant voice at the back of his mind was telling him that they didn't need to do that, that they could talk. He pushed it away without any effort. He didn't need to talk with the intruder, he needed to kill him.

A powerful lightning struck the dark-haired dragon pinning him down to the ground. Clearly, he was expecting it seeing the way he looked at him. The two humans obviously didn't expect it but he couldn't care less, he had another dragon to handle.

"Laxus please don't! It wasn't his fault if the guild is like that!" The human with blue hair exclaimed with distress.

He didn't give her more attention than he did with the other humans and moved toward the dragon. He got up and was looking at him with fear. Good, he should be afraid after what he'd done Laxus refused to spare his life.

A growl from his new adversary made his magic wilder than it already was. In less than a second the lightning slayer was behind the iron dragon and with a fist charged with electricity he punched him in the face.

He tried to stop his hand but the shock from the blond's magic prevented him to do so. Leaving him no time to attack back, the lightning slayer was continually hitting the wizard in front of him.

Levy, Jett, and Droy were looking at them afraid. Levy was still screaming for Laxus to stop while her teammates were frozen in fear and looking at the S-class wizard. None of them could recognize him right now it was as if he'd been replaced by some kind of beast. The three wizards couldn't stop shaking.

"Hey L-Laxus...you should stop...It's-it's going too far..." Jett tried to say with confidence still shaking.

He wasn't paying them any attention, he didn't even give them a look. When he rose his hand at Gajeel who was on the ground again Levy gathered her courage and get between Gajeel and her friend.

A loud sound resonated and after a sudden flash produced by the lightning, she opened her eyes only to meet Laxus's eyes looking at her with fear. She winced and squeeze her arms in pain while blood was drooling on the ground. On her arm was a deep scratch mark, and the lightning also burned her skin.

"Little fairy...?" Gajeel said in shock. He kept looking at the blood as if he couldn't believe it. What was she doing here? He should have taken that hit.

Seeing his friend, he watched grown since he was a kid, hurt by his fault was like a cold shower for the lightning slayer. He made a first step toward her only to get Jett and Droy in his way. They were furious and screaming at him, he stopped moving after that.

His hands still got those dark claws. and seeing Levy's wound it was because of them she was bleeding. He didn't want that. He couldn't control it. His magic was like a devastating fire and was consuming him. The only thing that mattered was killing the man behind him.

"Levy I'm sorry! I-I didn't want to hurt you..." He said with shame while Jett and Droy were looking at him with both fear and anger.

She didn't answer and avoided the lightning wizard's eyes. She was looking at his hands with a weird expression. It made Laxus nervous, probably because he still had her blood on his hands.

"The fuck is wrong with you Laxus?! If you wanted to help and hurt Phantom Lord that much you should have been there for the fight! We could have used your violent behavior there!" Droy screamed soon joined by Jett who was as furious as his friend.

"I-"

He couldn't explain it, how do you explain to someone that you couldn't control yourself and was acting like some kind of monster because your magic was perturbing your mind? No...It wasn't only his magic, Natsu had no problem like that. Something was wrong with him not with his magic.

Levy kept looking at the blond, she could see scales slowly growing on his hands just like Gajeel's. Before she could ask more about it Laxus hid his arms from her, he looked sorry and honestly she wasn't mad at him. Just scared...

The closest person she had to a big brother could be angry sometimes, he had a bad temper and wasn't easy to approach but she knew he was kind-hearted. When he attacked Gajeel she didn't recognize him, he was like a...like a dragon.

She didn't even suspect he was a dragon slayer like Gajeel or Natsu but she couldn't be mistaken. Not after she saw the golden scales and the dark claws on his hands.

"What happened here?!" Makarov exclaimed when he saw how hurt Levy and Gajeel were. The noise of a fight drew his attention and he decided to come and check what was going on. He clearly didn't expect this.
