"So if I hear anything about San I'll call you or you can call me if you need anything" he said comforting me

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind,"I said, feeling grateful for his support. As I turned to head back, he stops me again.

"Wait," he called out. I turned around to face him, feeling curious.

"What's your address?" he asked. I was taken aback for a moment, but I walked towards him.

"Give me your phone," I said. He unlocked his phone and handed it to me. I quickly typed out my address, including the floor and apartment number, and handed it back to him. He gave me a nod of understanding, and I felt relieved that he now knew how to find me if I needed his help.

As I arrived home, I rummaged through my purse to fish out my phone, eager to hear any news from San. However, it wasn't San who was calling, it was my sister Mona. I picked up the phone and answered.

"Dominique, are you home?" Mona asked through the phone.

"Yeah, why?" I replied, feeling curious.

"I'm outside your apartment building," she said cheerfully. Surprised, I looked out the window and noticed my sister's car parked in front of the building.

"Yeah, I came back with Marshall and the kids," she said with such joy in her voice.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. I walked over to it and opened it to find Mona standing there with a big, welcoming smile. I was caught off guard when she pulled me into a tight hug.

"Ah, I missed you sis," she said as she hugged me tightly.

"I missed you too," I replied, feeling glad to finally see her again.

"Where are Marshall and the kids?" I asked, looking around the hallway.

"They went home. They said they were tired from the long trip," she replied as we walked into the living room.

"So, how was England" I asked her, I watched as her eyes sparkled with excitement as she began to describe the picturesque countryside, magnificent castles, and fascinating museums.

I nodded along, hoping that my feigned interest was enough to make her feel like I
cared. However, I could feel my mind wandering despite my best efforts to stay present.

"What's wrong?" Mona's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. It was like she could see right through my facade.

"Nothing, you were saying," I said in a monotone voice, but Mona saw right through me. She looked at me with one eyebrow raised and her arms crossed.

"D, you can tell me what's going on," Mona said in a serious tone. still giving me that serious gaze

"I said it nothing" I said brushing it off, but she doesn't buy it, instead she tilt her head to the side and wait for me say something but I didn't

"Dominique, I know you since you were born, so what's wrong" she said her voice sounded annoyed and serious,I sighed, knowing that I couldn't keep it a secret any longer.

"I'm pregnant," I said, the words heavy on my tongue. She looked at me for a second and started to chuckle. "Oh my, that was funny Dominique, what else? You're getting married tomorrow?" she joked, still chuckling away. I looked at her in the eyes and didn't say anything. That's when she realized that I was being serious. I watched as her smile faded away.
