TW: Animal death, Slight Blood, Arguing
After the initial panic of Eddie and Robin's latest discovery, they were sat on the couch, facing one another. Planning, talking, scheming. They vowed never ever to tell another soul, not even Steve, the risk of exposure would be to great. Over the next 24 hours they experimented and researched, by some great luck Robin had the day off allowing her to become the ultimate vampire scientist armed with one roughly taped together version of Dracula, a dog eared Salems Lot, and an oddly musty copy of Interview With The Vampire, a VHS of the previous year's Lost Boys, and all of Eddie's dungeon master books.
"Who knew you could read?" Robin chuckled as she had all the evidence spread out on the floor in front of her.
"Yeah, only about the stuff that Counts." He grinned, "get it? Counts?"
"Ha ha ha, Sesame Street is right down the road." She thumbed over her shoulder to the bedroom door.
"Hey come on, lighten up." Eddie softened up, hoping for a genuine smile from her.
"This is SERIOUS Eddie!" Bobbing her hair as she spoke, her hand palm up, swooping toward his thick curls and whacking him upside the head.
"Ow!" He rubbed his scalp tenderly, scowling at Robin. "I know it's serious." Mumbling as he breathed a heavy sigh.
"Then act like it." She huffed as she took notes from all the material in front of her.
After hours of digging, reading, skin picking, head scratching, a scenery change and 2 replacement pencils, they finally came to a conclusion.
"Well. You're fucked." Robin flung her arms to her sides and threw herself onto her back, not caring that her head thumped the floor.
"Unggggh don't say that!" Eddie whined, pulling at his hair, shoving the ends in his mouth and chewing like his life depended on it.
"Not all hope is lost, at least we know you can eat people food. Maybe you can supplement with bandaids from the community pool." She snickered, "I'll get you your very own scoopin' net." She let her head flop to the side, wracking her brain for an actual answer to this problem.
"Great idea, AIDS sounds swell." He scoffed.
"Hey you've escaped it this long, maybe you're immune." She giggled.
"Not funny." He mumbled, "that stuffs no joke." Rubbing his neck, Robin taking note of how his face had begun to pale, the white look of his finger tips."I know dude," she paused looking for the right words, "I just don't know how to handle this."
The look on his face burned a hole straight through her heart, his sad brown puppy dog eyes, glossy with fresh tears threatening to fall. He was the perfect embodiment of hopelessness.
"Hey, it's okay. Really it is." She comforted him, resting a hand on his knee. "I'll go to nursing school, I'll be a phlebotomist! You'll never go hungry." She smiled a toothy smile at him.
"They wouldn't let you within shooting distance of a hospital you idiot." He jerked his knee back and swatted at her, grinning none the less. The grin faded quickly, "Rob?" He asked not meeting her eyes.
"Mhm?" She looked at him, quizzically, with thinly pressed lips.
"I am-" he paused, " I think I am hungry. My belly hurts." He glanced up at her and she tried to steel herself before she shrieked, "EDDIE oh my GOD! Your eyes!" She scrambled to her notebook, writing furiously as Eddie jumped up and howled in anger as he stared at himself in the mirror. His once chocolate brown irises were flooding slowly with a red tint, a deep dark wine red, golden flecks making an appearance as he tilted his head. His eyebrows furrowed, clearing his throat he took a step away from the mirror before beckoning Robin closer with his out stretched hand.
"Leave that notebook with me. I think it's time for you to leave. I'll- look I'll call you later." He shuddered as he met her eyes, hating himself for the thoughts hammering in his brain as he heard her heart beat faster.
