Eddie POV

My eyes had just begun to flutter closed, sleep finally ready to swallow me up when the peaceful silence was abruptly interrupted. My brain failed to catch up to my body leaving me reeling after I sat up in a panic. I looked over, thankfully she was still sound asleep, snoring softly. I would've smiled at her blissfulness if I weren't so annoyed with the persistent banging on the front door.

I was so tired that I stumbled when my feet hit the floor, struggling to make my arms and legs listen to me while I searched for some underwear. She stirred lightly reaching about for me.

"Shhh it's just the door." I comforted her as quickly as I could while I put on a pair of sweats.

"Hey! Open up!" An unfamiliar male voice shouted, I fumbled with the locks my hands sweaty from nerves.

"Okay! Okay! I'm coming!" I shouted back, the door shaking with each pound until I turned to knob, flying open and knocking me to the floor as a figure loomed over me. I felt a surge of adrenaline mixed with a sickening cold wash over me as I saw this stranger silhouetted in flashing lights.

"Hey? What's-" I scrambled to my knees, hands up in panic. "I don't understand."

"Edward Munson?" His voice boomed and I heard the floor creaking in front of the bedroom, an audible gasp coming from her sweet lips.

"Yes! Yes that's me!" The officer nodded for me to stand, I did so carefully, eyes pleading with the man before me to tell me what the fuck was going on.

"Eddie?" Her voice was small and weak.
Sleep mixed with fear, "Eddie what's going on?"

She had thrown on an old stretched out shirt of mine, her bare legs on display. A fleece throw blanket held around her shoulders like a cape, those fucking bunny slippers tapping the ground in annoyance.

The bright flashlight shone on her, her hands in cover her face, eyes squinted as she tried to make sense of everything.

"Officer?" She asked, her voice getting louder, braver. "Do you have a warrant? It doesn't seem like you were invited in." Her arms crossed on her chest, jaw set tightly.

"Sweetheart- let me" I started, only to be cut off by the cop.

"No need for a warrant ma'am. This is a welfare check in response to a domestic dispute. First and last name please?" He produced a pen and small notepad from a Velcro pocket on his chest.

She shifted her weight and placed a hand on one hip, the shirt bunched up under her hand revealing a pair of my boxers, a certain substance smeared on the crotch, and I couldn't help but stifle a laugh.

"Something funny kid?" The officer scoffed, writing down her name.

"No sir." I gulped, "so this is a welfare check? For who?"

"Her." He pointed the pen in her direction. "Step outside with me young lady."

He held open the door, stone faced as she walked over. She walked down the steps and he shot a smirk over his shoulder as he tried to guide her with his hand on her lower back. She jerked away from his touch, glaring down at his hand as he tucked it behind his back.

You walked outside in the brisk air, a thin mist hanging lowly made the police lights filter through in an eerie way. The police officer opened his back door, ushering you to sit while he asked a few questions.

"Do I have to sit in the back?" You asked, "I haven't done anything wrong."

"Sweetheart, I know that. You can stand if you'd like." He moved back, a sickly sweet grin on his clean shaven face.
