"What the?" You spoke under your breath, a short look at Nancy who just shrugged her shoulders. Beginning to wave your arms above your head frantically to catch this persons attention. They can't be up there! If they get hurt Danny'll be liable because they sure as hell didn't sign the correct forms.
"Hey! Hey you!" Pushing yourself up on the bar extending your arms to get a better look. Finally on the high ground you were able to see clearly. The crowd had blocked your view previously, though now... no way.
Eddie was sitting there casually like he'd been hanging out there all night. Your brain buffered, thoughts playing ping pong off the sides of your skull. Jaw hanging slack when he smiled, fangs shining brightly from the decorative lighting. He was beautiful, even with the horrendous colored hairspray you thought, you did tell him to do it after all.
He waved at you, flicking his fingers in a teasing way as he often did. The small movement took you back to the present scene, and you realized whatever he was doing, he was doing for you.
Your arms wavered becoming tired from holding up your body weight. You pushed up, trying to carefully swing your leg up to the counter top without flashing everyone in front of you. Though you were unsure if you were successful because as soon as you found your footing and had hoisted yourself up, the spilt liquor puddled under you caused you to slip.
Your hands flailed and your knees wobbled, you used the ceiling to steady yourself. A gasp from a girl near you stuck out her hand in case you needed assistance. A bright red blush bloomed across your cheeks when she did. You were suddenly painfully aware that all eyes were focused on you. Everyone could see you in perfect, unobstructed view, swallowing hard you forced your eyes to train themselves on Eddie.
You'd heard him practice with the band, you'd heard him practicing alone in the comfort of his home. The usual abrasive notes of his electric Warlock were replaced by the soft and careful strumming of an acoustic guitar, one you'd never seen before.
His voice was smooth as melted caramel, the moment it hit your ears you felt weak. Never had you imagined his clean vocals to sound like this. The usual distortion he used to create those harsh vocals he loved so well was gone.
His natural rasp came through in the most melodic way. This... this was a siren song.
"When I look back, on everything I've done
I know you must have cried river of tears,"
The pull of his energy was absolutely magnetic, you wanted nothing more than the crowd to dissipate, leaving the two of you alone. Just as this thought left your mind, the patrons became deathly silent as if they'd heard your wishes.
"But, you were there
When I was feeling low
To walk me through my darkest fears"
The emotion in his words was palpable. Both through his voice and your own feelings. These words pulled at your heart strings in such a way that you were absolutely certain he had written this just for you.
"So when the sun goes down
An' those nights grow colder,
I will be there
Looking over your shoulder"
All those nights he'd spent /away/, all those nights you awoke to the prickly feeling of being watched. Truer words had never been spoken.
"An' the deeper the love
The stronger the emotion,
An' the stronger the love
The deeper the devotion"
Love? You knew he had feelings for you, but love? Devotion though, you knew that was true. Even when you pushed him away, even when he left you alone and your heart had cracked he was still beside you.
The letter he had written was flashing behind your eyes, the words jumping off the page.
'indebted, magnetic, temptation, terrified, intoxicating, heavenly, addictive'
He stood, leaving the stage, the crowd moving to let him pass. Your gaze never leaving his as he made his way to you.
"There were times
I almost let you go
When I thought I needed to break free,
But you were there
To whisper in my ear
Why don't you share my dreams with me"
He'd come to you in the beginnings of fall, he'd stood there contemplating in the chilly night air. Hoping, begging for an answer to his unfortunate situation. Desperately trying to have you, to hold you, be near you. Desperately trying to stay out of reach, to protect you, shield you from his truth. You'd felt for him, all he's been through, all the emotions he'd felt were pouring out as he sang.
"So when the sun goes down
An those nights are growing colder
I will be there
Looking over your shoulder
An' the deeper the love
The stronger the emotion,
An' the stronger the love
The deeper the devotion"
He stood before you, as a man who'd risked everything. A man who /died/ and lived for you. A look of complete and udder adoration on his face, his eyes that beautiful dark chocolate brown always tinted with the slightest gleam of red. His pupils dilated, blown wide with affection and love.
"I don't mind, what you're doing to me,
I don't mind, 'cause you're all I can see
I don't mind, baby, you mean the world to me
When the sun goes down
An' those nights are growing colder,
I will be there
Looking over your shoulder, baby, baby, baby"
He reached for you, eyes pleading for you to take his hand, to join him. The counter much too tall on this side of the bar for an easy exit. He saw this and paused to gently place his hands around your waistline, standing you in front of him.
Taking his guitar back into his hands, eyes shining with tears he lowered his knee to the ground. Kneeling before you as he belted out the next bit. The vibration from his voice traveled straight through you, washing over you in a warm and loving wave.
"So When the sun goes down
An' those nights are growing colder,
I will be there
Looking over your shoulder
'Cause the deeper the love
The stronger the emotion,
An' the stronger the love
The deeper the devotion
the deeper the love
The stronger the emotion,
An' the stronger the love
The deeper, the deeper, the deeper the devotion"
Once again his strumming stopped, this must be the end of the song. Before you could move, before you could speak, his guitar was flung behind him and he was crushing you with a hug. Still singing, now only much, much softer. His breathing tickled your ear as you pulled yourself even closer into his grasp.
"I'm never gonna let you go,
In my heart, I know
I love you, I love you
Oh baby, I really love you"
A feeling of golden radiance floods your veins, both cold and warm at the same time. It was like he was pouring a bit of his soul into you. An exchange of heart and soul. Your body wracked with silent sobs as the feeling overwhelmed you. You felt connected, your heart super glued to his. You were undoubtedly now forever bonded to the man who's tears pitter patted onto your hair. It wasn't a question anymore, not a tingling thought, it was a firmly known statement that you knew deep down, all along that since his fangs had grazed your skin you were his. Inexplicably and absolute. Bonded. Owned. Possessed.
Supernaturally intertwined.
