For the past two weeks, besides finishing his year-end assignments and studying all out for his final exams, Rain had done nothing but think about his two encounters with Phayu - both at the club and at the library - ending with the "let's talk after the semester is over" agreement.
No matter how he looked at it, Rain couldn't escape the fact that they came from completely different worlds.
They had nothing in common besides Medicine and a very strong physical attraction.
Rain had heard some details about Phayu's background over the semester since he was well-known at the Medical Faculty. He came from a wealthy family with a long legacy in Medicine.
His parents were very respected in the city, his mother for her reputation and contributions as a physician, and his father was a very successful businessman.
The circles he moved in and the lifestyle he lived were worlds apart from Rain's who had no family, no connections, no money, no social standing.
At least not yet.
One day he would, but that was a long way away.
But based on who they were today, Rain was pretty sure a relationship between them wouldn't work. Their lives were too different.
Rain's life experiences so far had taught him to be very practical.
He had already lost the two people who he loved most in the world. He couldn't keep loving and losing people. If they started dating, he would want more and hope for more but eventually reality would pull them apart. He wasn't sure how much battering his heart could take.
He needed to protect his heart.
All of this rational analysis of what it would mean to date Phayu didn't stop him from being very attracted to him though.
They had strong chemistry, that was undeniable. Even as inexperienced as he was he felt that. In both of their more intimate encounters so far, their physical connection had been off the charts.
Now that he knew what real passion felt like, he could no longer turn it off or run away from it like he had all these years. He was almost 22 years old. It was time that he allowed himself to explore that part of him.
But the last thing he wanted was to hook up with some stranger or someone that he wasn't as attracted to.
Was it so wrong to want his first time to be amazing? He wanted it to be passionate and memorable. He knew without a doubt that with Phayu it would be.
Who better than the professor to introduce him to sex and teach him how to be good at it?
He was older, more experienced and they were already intensely attracted to each other if the kiss the other day was anything to go by.
Having tasted the sizzling passion that flowed between them, he wanted more of it. But he didn't want to have unrealistic expectations of what they could be and end up being hurt when reality got in the way.
So after looking at things from all sides, he had landed on this idea. And they didn't need to date to do this.
He had come to the conclusion that it would be better to ask for what he wanted with clear expectations from the start that this would be a no-strings-attached, simple arrangement that was purely for sex. No need for dating, no need for romance, no commitments.
No reason for him to get his hopes up that it would lead to something more.
He hoped that Phayu would be willing to teach him this since they already had a strong attraction to each other.
